Only when K Street looks like Main Street is some abandoned rust belt town will we know we have accomplished something.
I think you're right. They'll want to propose bills that are bones for various parts of their base, but their prospects for the Senate in 2012 and 2014 are worse than this November.
Conservatives and Republican Victory
The Republican Party has a real chance, because of the unusually good composition of the 2012 and 2014 Senate elections, to acquire something that Republicans have never had before: a filibuster-proof Senate.
America! It's about
Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Any states in italics are represented by the jackass party. In addition, Maine is represented by a weak sister RINO. Ditto for Lugar of Indiana.
Not counting these two, 23 of 33 senate seats up for relection are Democrat. Remember, this is the class of 2006 when so many seats switched.
Thanks Vigilanteman.
Strong words!
Connecticut is, of course, represented by Independent Joe Liebermann, but I italicized him like a RAT because he votes with the RATs.
I look for our Lt. Governor Peter Kinder to run.

Does Elaine need to be looked at, maybe, as a possible Chinese "resource" a la Slick Willie, Wen Ho Lee, and Charlie Trie?
“Does Elaine need to be looked at, maybe, as a possible Chinese “resource” a la Slick Willie, Wen Ho Lee, and Charlie Trie?”
Sorry, she was a BUSH appointee.
Bush held over Richard Clarke on NSA staff. How'd that work out for him? If the person isn't a solid 'Pubbie (think, Ken Mehlman, e.g., as a not-solid 'Pubbie), the appointment eventually will blow back dirt on him.
So, does Elaine "got dirt"?
> “Where is Mitch?”
.
Grieving in the knowledge that so many of the Republican senators will be fired up freshmen, that he stands little chance of being the leader come January. (can you say DeMint?)
Jim DeMint Ping! |
Follow Sen. DeMint on Twitter.
Jim is running for reelection this November. If you like his philosophy, consider tossing him some bucks.
“Doesn’t matter — if she’s working for Mother China, it doesn’t matter who appointed her.”
AGREED!
“So, does Elaine “got dirt”?”
Dirt? Not my word. She promoted many policies most ‘conservatives’ don’t agree with, like amnesty (CIR),more outsourcing, more illegal immigration. It’s easy to find her statements as Secty. of labor...here’s one pushing for more foreign ag workers.

[snip] Feb.2008 Secretary Chao:
And so let me just tell you a little bit about whats happening at the Department of Labor. There are about 1.2 million hired agricultural workers in our country today, and estimates show that between 600,000 and 800,000 are undocumented workers. There simply are not enough U.S. workers to fill the hundreds of thousands of agricultural jobs that are available in this country.
Farmers can hire temporary workers, foreign workers, to harvest their crops through the H-2A Visa Program, which was established by Congress in 1986, and administered by the Department of Labor. And yet despite the fact that this program is uncapped, agricultural employers hired only about 75,000 H-2A workers in 2007
Secretary Chao: It would be interesting to note here, H-2A visa program is the only one that is uncapped, and yet its under-utilized.
Question: But how many visas really can be made available in a years time before
Secretary Chao: Well, its unlimited.
Kirk could be #42, Christine #43 and DiGuardia #44 for a lame duck GOP senate caucus if we run the table. Even granting that Kirk is a RINO (although from his ads you’d think he was Steve Forbes) it would be hard to find 4 RINO votes there to break a conservative filibuster after an election that produced that result. Even the Maine twins aren’t complete idiots.
As for how the Chinese get their spies, Wen Ho Lee was in the U.S. for years, then went to work in Los Alamos in 1978. A few years later, the Chicoms came knocking, and they weren't at all shy about what they wanted. From Wiki:
An investigation of Lee found that he had been invited to China to speak with scientists on two occasions in the 1980s. During the investigation, and after being confronted with questions about his actions and behavior, Lee reported that he had been approached ten years earlier on his second visit to China by two scientists who requested that he assist them and China with the development of nuclear missiles.
Wen Ho Lee was Chinese. The Chinese reptile masters knew they could trust him not to rat out their approach to U.S. security people like Notra Trulock, who was the person to whom he should have gone immediately.
