My cat knows how to use a can-opener, but sadly (for him) lacks the opposable thumbs to actually do so.

Our feline overlords have that one unfortunate (for them) shortcoming.

My daughter videotaped her cat opening the plastic storage container that contained her dry cat food. The cat then proceeded to use her front paw to reach in and grab the food. I told my daughter that I wouldn’t be surprised to see that her cat has figured out the pull top on her canned cat food.

Haha! Our cat (who sadly decided to go outside and play with the coyotes instead of live with our then 6 month old son) knew the difference between a can of tuna being placed on the counter and a can of anything else being placed on the counter.

Don’t get a polydactyl. We have two kittens. Neither one has figured out the can opener, yet, but it is a little scary to watch the one with thumbs try.

I had a cat that could open the screen door by sticking his claws in it and was learning how to open a doorknob on a regular door. He put his two paws on opposite sides of the knob and caused it to turn some.

I believe if he had lived longer, he would've eventually been able to open an unlocked door.
