The Dangers of Under Confidence
DickMorris.com ^ | 10.4.2010 | Dick Morris

Just as when the Republican establishment wrote off Scott Brown’s effort to capture “Ted Kennedy’s” seat in the Senate, the Washington Republicans may be under estimating the number of seats the GOP can capture in the House of Representatives.

Over confidence is not a danger. Everybody is working as hard as they can to elect Republicans all over America. Nobody is apathetic on the right. The only indifference and passivity in the nation is on the left. But under confidence – writing off seats that we can win – is a huge obstacle to further progress.

The swath of destruction Obama has cut through our economy, banking system, manufacturing base, and medical profession is so broad and ugly that Republicans and Independents everywhere are determined to end his mandate by electing a Republican Congress in 2010. Seats that Republicans had no chance to win in previous elections are suddenly in play. With scores of Democratic incumbent Congressmen polling at under 50% of the vote, the possibilities for Republican gains are enormous.

But Republican funding and tactical focus is having a hard time keeping pace with the political developments on the ground. Handicappers like Cook Political Report are slow in switching their predictions quickly enough as the Republican wave sweeps through the nation. GOP national committees and PACs run the risk that they will concentrate too much money on races that are already won, leaving opportunities to rot on the vine in other districts.

Yes, and Rush needs to know we are not idiots!

We understand political reality and that we need a couple of election cycles to regain power.

But we first need to win this victory to begin the process.

The meme election night at MSNBC, CNN and ABC will be how the courageous, principled longshot Coons, defeated O'Donnell and the Republican machine in Deleware and how this bodes well for Obama, and that his green, forward thinking agenda has been given new life. The anchors and pundits will then wag their finger at the cameras and warn the new Republican majorities to not “Overreach” and “Take the message of the election wrong”. They will show the balloons flying and confetti dropping Delaware and Charlie Rangels districts for 53 minutes of each hour past 9pm. The next AM on the idiot Morning shows in between the gratuitous stories on Lindsey Lohan's breats and saving money by buying organic Doritos they will show their Mao or Pol Pot, Obama leading the funeral dirge with an angry and petulant speech about how he won in 2008 and how people still want his Hopey\Changey pablum.

The real problem with the Senate will be the quality of the senators. Even if the election gives the GOP control of the Senate, there are absolutely no guarantees that the well known RINOs can be counted on to resist the urge for attention and walk across the aisle to work with Obozo.

RINOs always claim they work with democrats to make a bill less bad than it might have been. BS and we all know it. How about no bill instead? Even if they talk like they will work with him on bills like Cap and Trade or Immigration they will destroy the trust with the voters who put them in office to stop Obama.

If this happens, our chances for regaining the WH in 2012 will be damaged. We are walking a fine line here.

You are not going to catch hell from here! I agree with your comment about the FR "Bedwetters". I am afraid that too many of them have too much invested in GOP failure. They want failure so they can complain.

Rush may be right about playing into Obama's hand, but the alternative, doing nothing, is not a solution, either.

When I was a young stud, I had a chance to play tennis against a guy in his late 70s. He mopped the court with me by merely returning my shots. I, being the young stud, was aggressive and he just held back, playing his game and letting me make the mistakes. That is how we can beat Obama. Return his shots and let him make the mistakes.

I still remain unconvinced about Obama's "genius". I see him as a tool or a sock puppet.

Last night on Hanity, Bonior said that one of the goals of the Republican-led congress would be the repealing of Obamacare.

I know, I’m going to catch hell for critizing Rush! ;-)

Rush is not a god. You’re exactly right about Rush. Sometimes he chaps my butt, too.

I was elected as a Precinct committee person last year and all the precinct members for our district have been meeting every other week for months. Final stretch, door to door and even rented out a call center to make those get out the vote calls. Writing letters to the editor and joining local on line forums to comment and sway.

We are excited, enthusiastic and very busy this last month.

Are you talking about Mitch McConnel senate minority leader,or John Beohner(sp)House Minority leader.

Beohner was on Hannity last night. He told Sean that he supports repealing Obama care.
