MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The owner of Alabama's largest casino, four state senators and several top lobbyists have been indicted on federal charges accusing them of vote buying on a bill to legalize electronic bingo.
The indictment was released Monday as FBI agents made arrests at several locations across the state.

Many of them are “D-Alabama”
Why are the feds even concerned about gambling in Alabama? Where in the constitution does it allow the feds to police state’s legislators?
"When buying and selling is controlled by the Legislature the first things to be bought and sold are the Legislators." P.J. O'Rourke
What goes on in Shorter (home of the Golden Gallon) STAYS in Shorter. Right?
Of the four state senators indicted, 3 are D, 1 is R.
They probably ran afoul of some of the manifold strings attached to the buckets of tax money recycled through the Washington bureaucracy.
The arrests have nothing to do with gambling. The arrests have to do with buying votes. That’s a common misconception being sent out by liberals that they were arrested for matters, concerning gambling. It would help to read the indictment before commenting, then you know the facts.
The full list of those indicted:
Milton McGregor (casino owner) heavy D donor
Ronald Gilley (developer) no donor information
Thomas Coker (lobbyist?) R donor
Robert Geddie (lobbyist?) D donor
Jarrod Massey (lobbyist?) D donor
Larry Means (state senator) D
James Preuitt (state senator) D
Quinton Ross (state senator) D
Harri Anne Smith (state senator) R
Jarrell Walter (lobbyist?) no donor information
Joseph Crosby (lobbyist?) no donor information
The one R is a Republican right now - current Senator. However, she did not get Republican nomination for re-election and was running for re-election as an Independent. Can we say “Rhino”?
Fry them all...And make a super painful example of the republican in house.
The Federal Indictment has nothing to do with gambling. Give it a read. It’s long, but a very interesting read.
Not gamblin, vote buyin.
Hilarious.
Corrections:
Jarrell Walker is an employee of Gilley
Coker, Geddie, and Massey are lobbyists
Crosby is a state employee, involved with writing legislation related to gambling
And the feds have what authority to investigate state governments?
One of the Dems (Preuitt)recently flipped to the GOP, but that was more because his district is going Republican as people flee the Montgomery cesspool. Harri Anne Smith has been endorsing Bobby Bright ever since she lost the Republican primary for the second congressional district in 2008.
If something is corrupt, it always has to be investigated by a higher up. That’s in any business or anything...basic common sense. It’s the whole reason we have the Supreme Court, really.
The indictment cites violations of a number of federal laws:
Conspiracy to violate federal laws
Bribery related to use of federal funds
Fraud
Racketeering
Money laundering
False statements
Witness tampering
Doesn’t sound like a court issue at the moment. SOunds like th efeds were busy investigated alleged state corruption. I’m just curious what authority they cite to do so. I can’t find it in the constitution.
