This is from a local perspective, if anyone wants to see. Of course Dems are yelling that Alabama's republican governor is behind this, just to get rid of them. However, they are thinking these people were arrested by Alabama law enforcement for something to do with gambling. Actually, the reason they were arrested has nothing to do with gambling. They were arrested by the FBI for many charges, including political payoffs for votes.

Many of them are “D-Alabama”

Why are the feds even concerned about gambling in Alabama? Where in the constitution does it allow the feds to police state’s legislators?

From a Federalist and Constitutional point of view I agree with you. But, sometimes the Feds are the only ones who can effectively check local venality. We know that up in the Gay State, believe me.
They probably ran afoul of some of the manifold strings attached to the buckets of tax money recycled through the Washington bureaucracy.

The arrests have nothing to do with gambling. The arrests have to do with buying votes. That’s a common misconception being sent out by liberals that they were arrested for matters, concerning gambling. It would help to read the indictment before commenting, then you know the facts.

The one R is a Republican right now - current Senator. However, she did not get Republican nomination for re-election and was running for re-election as an Independent. Can we say “Rhino”?

The Federal Indictment has nothing to do with gambling. Give it a read. It’s long, but a very interesting read.

One of the Dems (Preuitt)recently flipped to the GOP, but that was more because his district is going Republican as people flee the Montgomery cesspool. Harri Anne Smith has been endorsing Bobby Bright ever since she lost the Republican primary for the second congressional district in 2008.

If something is corrupt, it always has to be investigated by a higher up. That’s in any business or anything...basic common sense. It’s the whole reason we have the Supreme Court, really.

Doesn’t sound like a court issue at the moment. SOunds like th efeds were busy investigated alleged state corruption. I’m just curious what authority they cite to do so. I can’t find it in the constitution.
