ETA in Chavez's Venezuela: the ultimate proof

The confession of the suspected ETA members and Xavier Juan Carlos Besance Atristain arrested last Sept. 29 in Guipúzcoa, is the first survey of members of the terrorist organization on the use of Venezuela as a stage for armed training. So far all the indications on the use of that country during the government of Hugo Chavez were based on documents seized from ETA in France, in emails containing the hard disk of FARC leader Raul Reyes, killed in a bombing Colombian army, and evidence gathered in Bogotá by Spanish officials to former members of the FARC who reported in great detail how they were trained in weapons and explosives by members of ETA in the Venezuelan jungle.

Atristain Besance and now added a key story that demonstrates the alleged Chavez under the constant comings and goings of members of ETA through its territory, a country that terrorists have become a resort for rest, training and advising organizations armed friends like the FARC. Venezuela is the largest reserve of ETA fugitives refugees and South America, although most of the 60 members who reside there are far from the band. In recent years the Spanish intelligence services have detected a steady transfer of ETA members from Mexico and France to Venezuela.

Suspected ETA Besance and Atristain, according to sources close to the investigation, have reported that ETA traveled to the resort in 2008 to carry out a course that they received weapons and Arturo Cubillas Fontan, whom the judge of the Audiencia Nacional Eloy Velasco processed last March by its relations with ETA and the FARC and for being the person who allegedly received the ETA in Venezuela who taught the courses of weapons and explosives. Cubillas, 46, is Chavez's government official and is married to Goizeder Odriozola, Elias Jaua personal adviser, Vice President. The ETA maintains close relationships with National Guard commanders and the Military Intelligence Directorate (DIM) by reason of his position as security chief of the National Land Institute (Inter), an agency that has seized 40,000 allegedly unproductive farms, as sources consulted by El Pais.

The Office of the High Court that directs Javier Zaragoza, filed a complaint against Cubillas and other members of ETA and the FARC and the judge requested his extradition on suspicion of three murders and responsible for the terrorist organization in Venezuela. As the world marks seven months since the order of the High Court which ordered his detention and international search and arrest, Cubillas still be arrested and walking around the streets of Caracas.

The arrest warrant listed since March 1 with red index, detention for extradition, on the computers of the 188 Interpol partner countries. National Court sources say that none of the requirements of justice of Venezuela has received a response. "We expect nothing from the Venezuelan authorities, court officials acknowledge. A delegation of Interior who visited Caracas to convince their colleagues of the importance of stopping Cubillas returned to Madrid without achieving its objective.

The United Nations and the OAS should impose sanctions to Venezuela for aiding terrorists.

There is not a single anti-western force in the world that Chavez hasn’t allied himself with. Khadaffi, Saddam, Al Qaeda, Ahmadinejad, ETA, and the list goes on.

And FARC. Chavez isn’t allied with FARC, Chavez “is” FARC.

As others say, show me your friends and I show you who you are.
