GOP finds a heavyweight

Between blowing his top and acting like "a junk yard dog," gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino has been quietly trying to land the most coveted Republican accolade of the season -- an endorsement from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

He must wait in a very long line.

This election season, the Garden State governor has received about 100 requests for endorsements. Republicans running for county offices in Ohio even write in, asking for his support.

It's a level of political superstardom currently enjoyed on the right only by Sarah Palin -- but unlike that of the controversial Alaskan former governor, no Republican would back away from a Christie endorsement.

Christie is unlikely to come out and stump for Paladino, according to a source. But it's no surprise that New York's self-proclaimed "junkyard dog" is eager for the seal of approval. Like Paladino, Christie is "mad as hell" -- but he has turned that anger into a winning strategy.

The rumpled, rude and charismatic Christie has become an unlikely standard bearer of the GOP, preaching his "take no union prisoners" motto from Pennsylvania to California.

BY now, you may know the story: A relatively un known US attorney from Newark defeats a billionaire Democratic incumbent in a blue state, promising to cut spending and lower taxes. Within nine months, he manages to close an $11 billion deficit in the state budget with Democrats in control of the Legislature.

Just proves how wimpy Republican pols are. One guy says what is said in a million bar rooms, and he’s a hero and the other 100 limp, spineless, dolt GOP have to have him come to speak English and say intellectually difficult phrase as, ‘No’, or ‘we’ve spent enough’.

Even tje gteat empancipator did not free one slave in the US with his Emancipation Proclamation, But reinstituted slavery in liberated New Orleans and the River Parishes. It could well be that this is the Lincoln that 0 wants to emulate.

Seems like the article’s more about Christie...and how because he does what he says he’d do, everyone wants his endorsement.

Other politicians could do what Christie does, walk the walk instead of just talking the talk...but they don’t. So when somebody tells the truth and does what they’ve promised it’s an oddity in the politican arena.

I’d love to see Christie at a press conference w/the WH Press Corp and see how they handle it when someone throws back to them what they dish out. Oh the outrage there’d be!

I'm watchin' Christie closely. So far, what I've seen is good. I like his ideas, I like his statements, but what is more, I like and applaude his actions.

Imagine!! For the first time in more than three generations, New Jersey can actually take real pride in itself as a state!

Way to go, Christie!

Now teach the rinos in both houses how to be a true conservative.

Hell...if it can happen in New Jersey, it can happen anywhere (even in California).

RoadTest: I too like your tagline...a lot!

It seems to be a bit of the same thought as: "Religion is the opiate of the masses."

To which I would make one small change...add "Organized" in front of "Religion"...and I'm ok with it.

I see the logic in what you’re saying. The way I see it, there is enough contrast between “religion” and “relationship” when you put them side by side that organized and ritualistic ceremony is implied in the word “religion”, while a lively action is implied by the word “relationship”.

But, yeah, perhaps I should add “organized” just to avoid misunderstanding.

Give me a break. Where does the Post come up with such drivel? Christie in a league with Sarah Palin? I don’t think so. Palin has delivered victories in Delaware and in New Hampshire, right in Christie’s back yard.

In Delaware, Christie went toe to toe with Palin, endorsing Mike Castle, and got his clock cleaned.

Can this Ann Karni name any Republican who has backed away from a Sarah Palin endorsement?

The pro-Mosque, pro-amnesty, gun grabber Christie is the latest hero of the RINO Establishment.

Sad, but true. While better than Corzine, that isn't saying much.

Christie isn't even the financial conservative he's trumped up to be. He has increased state aid to schools (giving even more to failed districts and even less to performing districts), expanded entitlements, has no problem with illegal aliens who cost NJ taxpayers $3.7 billion annually (up from $2.1 and growing. approves of cap and trade (we have our own version in NJ) ...

Christie is what I call a Mommy Republican. The Democrats and Republican RINOs make a mess, get drunk, don’t pay the bills, and every now and them a keep the family together Mommy Republican comes in and cleans up a bit, until next time.

Cristie accepts big gov size, tax, control and intervention. He’s a balance the books, raise taxes( if he can ) meat and potatoes Democrat, liberal, socialists.

Please contact me if you’re interested in being added on or taken off the Carl Paladino for Governor ping list. This looks to be a fairly high volume ping list for a while, probably until the election.
