FactCheck.org Calls Baron Hill’s Ads False And Misleading
Todd Young for Congress ^ | 9/23/2010 | Todd Young

Independent watchdogs are calling Congressman Baron Hill’s recent spate of negative attacks on Republican challenger Todd Young false and misleading.

In a new report, Factcheck.org, a non-partisan organization that monitors accuracy in U.S. politics, says Hill’s television ads, designed to scare seniors about the future of Social Security and Medicare, are “incorrect” and “without evidence.”

This comes on the heels of Hill citing the Louisville Courier-Journal to claim that Young is not a deputy prosecutor. Contrary to Hill’s claim, the paper, in fact, clarified that “Young is a sworn deputy in the Orange County prosecutor’s office.”

Baron Hill has been in Congress for 12 years. And yet his case for reelection rests not on his accomplishments, but exclusively on telling lies about his opponent.

Why? Because his record includes voting for the $1 trillion stimulus, the cap and trade energy tax that would double Indiana utility rates, and President Obama’s government takeover of health care that will cut $500 billion from Medicare. And since Hill returned to Congress in 2006, Indiana’s unemployment rate has increased 121 percent.

Baron Hill is entitled to his own opinions, but not his own facts. And no amount of dishonesty can obscure his disastrous record.

This is the Democrats old playbook dusted off once more.
Their Strategy for this election is the same as every election:
Lie about Social Security, and change the subject to abortion.

In the 2 congressional races (PA 10 & 11) covered by my local media the "mean republicans are going to destroy Social Security" card is being played heavily.

Unfortunately a high percentage of seniors will buy the BS hook, line, and sinker. You would think after 70-80 years people would figure out the dems are lying.

I dunno, I think a lot of those seniors were young once and laughed at the Democrats’ lies.
The old playbook just doesn’t work as well as it used to.
But they’ve got nothing to run on, so it’s all they have to go to.

I’d be thrilled to tell the govt it owes me no Social Security checks in exchange for having back all the $$ I had to pay in during my working years.

It was highway robbery. ROI of 1.5% ... a high school kid could do better.

I agree, it's great to see accomplished citizens stepping forward to run. Mike Sodrel was fine, but a fresh face is great to see.

Regarding Gipper08's post: He supported Todd Young's opponent in the primary and is trying to tear him down so his candidate can run next time around. Quite the nasty little clique they have going. So I think it's safe to disregard his attacks.

Can you name one position where Todd Young is to the right of the GOP talking points? One real conservative position?

Is that your way of accusing him of being a down-the-line conservative?

You pathetic kids make me sick. Have you or your buddy Hankins ever held a real job in your life? Or do you just attack conservatives for a living and think up ways to get on the government payroll?

uh... the GOP 1995 through 2010 NOT conservative(you understand that RIGHT??)...in fact socialist...What position of Young’s makes him different from the Socialist Republicans of the past 15 years?

(heck the stakes are higher now than say 2002 so really he should be more conservative than say a 2002 typical Republican)

Todd Young is a pro-life, pro-gun, anti-tax Marine.

You are a bitter, delusional sore loser.

No he is not pro-life....and he maybe anti-tax in the typical GOP sense of the word but he is truly not anti-tax because he supports the concept and legality of the income tax, payroll tax, and property tax...

Pro-Gun? So is Hill and EVERY Republican shy of Lugar who is Todd Young’s HERO btw...

Speaking of Lugar I don’t know why you are bringing up Hankins...Young winning is foregone and hankins won’t challenge an incumbent...they will not even be in the same district regardless...Hankins is running against Lugar.

Hill could have one but he did not organize Monroe right and he will lose...
