Fritz was actually a nice guy. I met him when he was ambassador to Japan. He was a cordial, gracious host, the kind of guy I would trust to babysit my kids.

That being said, I wouldn't trust him with actual political power. His mind is still trapped in the FDR to 1960 era. He doesn't think what liberals did during that time is wrong. He only thinks they failed because they weren't allowed to do enough of it. But unlike the thugs running the show now, he was honest about what he believed and willing to defend it. That's why he is the only man in history to lose elections in all 50 states.

I remember his ‘84 concession speech for its graciousness.......................... Did he have a choice? 49 states voted for Reagan. It was almost a total wipe out. Had he won, Ceck Point Charlie and the Berlin wall would probably still be there today.
