My Cuban friends do not want to be labelled as Latinos.
Yes, this is a little know fact. Many Cubans consider themselves Europeans. Cuba was a very mixed-race place but many of the early refugees to the United States after Castro's takeover were of pure Spanish descent and do not like to be classified as Latinos. It's a sensitive subject so I won't go further.
Also many Indians (from India) do not consider themselves Asian even though they are often classified as such. I know an Indian Engineer (from the very upper class of India) who considers himself a European. He even looks more European than Asian. This is also a sensitive subject so I won't go further.

And a lot of Iranians consider themselves to be Persians and that is what they call themselves. Hard to keep up. LOL
