The officer says: "You are the predators. The Taliban are your prey!!"
The use of Old norse symbolism is being associated with neo-nazism.
I guess I wanted the input of your guys here. There are many currently serving members and many ex service members here.
As an aside, the Telemark battalion did get the Taliban commander responsible for Jokke's death with the help of American soldiers:
Norwegian, American and Afghan forces were Thursday evening in the battle with insurgents in Kwaja Kinti in Qeysar, southwest of the Norwegian base in Maimana.
Several insurgents were killed in clashes. Defence confirmed today that a leading roadside bomb experts were among those killed.
Taliban leader Mullah Ghulam Hazrat has long been wanted on suspicion of planting a number of IED attacks in Ghowrmach district of Faryab.
Hazrat will, among other things, have been behind the roadside bomb that killed the Norwegian coach driver Claes Joachim Olsson 25 January this year.
Olsson was killed when the armored car he struck out an IED in Ghowrmach district.
Hazrat was killed by fire from armored vehicles from the Norwegian infantry force in Maimana, the same force Olsson belonged.
Mullah Ghulam Hazrat considered to be the main man behind a number of IED attacks in the Faryab province, and to on several occasions have been in Pakistan to receive training in making IED's.
The province is ethnically mixed, and has been marked by local conflicts for a long time.

To me its heartwarming.
Valhalla....
I am a Christian, but to me Valhalla signifies heaven.
Maybe they’ll revive the Viking blood eagle.
These guys sound AWESOME. Take away the pansy socialism and the ol’ Viking spirit returns.
The Viking spirit still lives on.
In the grunts it does. Not so among the liberal political elite - including the head brass of the military.
Lets see ... Viking warrior sprit (check)
Lots of bullets and guns (check)
Target rich environment (check)
Troops willing to take the fight to the enemy (check)
Sounds like plan
The liberal will not be happy until these soldiers wear pink panties and run around Afghanistan asking for forgiveness, apologizing for the crusades and being evil white Christians.
What symbol are they supposed to use?
That's what I had painted on my HMMWVs in Iraq- And screw you if you don't like that!
Oh sh!t these guys are badasses!! It is refreshing they don’t subscribe to political correctness.
Very nice. I was thinking the other day..could these people really be decendents of the Vikings?
God bless them.
I believe Odin would be proud of his children..........
In war, you can get mad, or get scared...
If you get scared you get killed, if you get mad, you do the killing.
That’s a paraphrase, obviously, but a very accurate quote... These guys have the right attitude for war. War is hell, and it involves beating your enemy into abject submission, nothing less. Fighting a war with any other intent is a waste of men and national treasure.
>unit’s field priest reacted when he heard about the incident and reported the soldiers “warmongering ethics and dangerous behaviour” to senior officers
One STOOOPID Priest.
I am a former active duty United States Marine and I approve of the actions and courage of this Norwegian military unit.
Soldiers said something that is not self victimizing, didn't act and look emasculated and dared say that soldiering can be fun!
Ever notice that in the liberal media they will gladly, LOVE TO, print negative comments about the leadership within a military unit, or print the views of some disgruntled soldier, or portray them as suffering victims of the war. BUT DARE say that you enjoy your profession, that war can be fun/exciting/adventurous, that there are things about soldiering that no other profession on earth has and you're a sick pervert, a monster, a horrible guy!
“warmongering ethics and dangerous behaviour”....????
In a war zone?.....imagine that?
Come to think of it, it would probably do their morale wonders. Foreningen Forn Sed formed in 1999 and has been recognized by the Norwegian government as a religious organization.
(1) Being Norwegian, technically I think they would be Åsatruar.
There is a lot to like about Norway, and a lot not to. Hydro-electricity and a national budget surplus it generates. But the wage compression there is brutal, fines and fees are determined by net worth or income and it is a socialist country. Granted the only Norwegians that I have met have been engineers, I never met one I did not like.
