For decades CNN shoved this woman down our throats, and you just had to take it, because CNN was a small-audience news provider, and they would keep her on the air whether anybody tuned in or not. Her function was to be the face of the CNN brand, and the fact that nobody was tuning in was not a problem. She just had to give the impression that CNN was more worldly, intelligent, in touch with the world and sophisticated that the viewership. The fact that none of this was true was unimportant. It was all about impressions.
But now she is at ABC, where she actually has to get a hold an audience in order to succeed. It is a different problem, and she will not be able to solve it. All she knows how to do is amp up the unpleasantness. Her response to failure will be to do what she did at CNN, only moreso, which is exactly the wrong response.
If somebody, who is demonstrably and obviously wrong about everything, is on ABC and telling me that I am an idiot, I’m going to switch over to NBC and never look back. Before long, the only people watching her show will be the hard-core masochists, and bedridden invalids who are unable to operate a remote control. That is not a very big market share.

Excellent analysis.
Thanks.
Well said.
Also, the executives at ABC who thought she would be an audience pleaser, have just demonstrated how out of touch with ‘ordinary’ Americans they are. This is the same kind of detachment from reality that they bring to their decisions of what gets aired as “news.”

You forgot their main demographic-prisoners of airport waiting roooms!
