Cornyn: Del. Senate 'not as competitive' as other races for GOP

The Chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee said Thursday that Delaware's Senate contest between Tea Party-favorite Christine O'Donnell and Democrat Chris Coons "looks like it's not as competitive as other races across the country."

Speaking to reporters after an event at the National Press Club, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) reiterated the NRSC's backing of O'Donnell and said the committee would support her financially "as appropriate."

But Cornyn suggested that without Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.) as the Republican nominee, the seat is less winnable for his party this fall.

"It's no secret that I believe Castle would have won that race handily," Cornyn said.

On Wednesday, Castle decided against waging a write-in bid this fall, an option he told reporters last week that he was considering. The latest polling in the race gives Coons a double-digit lead over O'Donnell.

Bang that drum all you like John. The parade has already passed you by. So how about you shut up and quit throwing cold water on this history-making campaign.

With Castle as the nominee, the DNC had two horses in the race.

What’s no secret is that you’ve become an inside-the-beltway ‘Rat fellator, John boy.

It's no secret that the choice between Castle and Coons is as pointless as choosing Tweedledee or Tweedledum.

The old sabotage trick. Thanks, Cornyn. I hope it backfires, and he blows up his own lousy career.

Well, his comments (at least in the summary) are absolutely correct.

I don’t live in Delaware so I don’t get a vote — but it seems clear the Tea Party didn’t do a very good job vetting their candidate. Still better than Coons, but a flake in my opinion.

Cornyn, Graham, and McConnell are in the Tea Party targets for 2014.

You might not like the message, but he’s right. There’s limited funds to go around, and several very tight races where we can pick up seats. CT, WI, NV, WV .... it goes on and on. O’Donnell is down by double digits.

It’s not up to Cornyn.

It’s up to the people.

Beware RINO At Work.
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) needs to be handed his exit pass ASAP

She has enough money anyway. I hope she wins and Cornyns opinion isn’t helpful in any way. I agree though, while not writing off Delaware, it’s a small state and 2.5 mil is plenty and she needs to get started. Send donations to Angle and other close races that are within MOE.

Castle would be good for one thing, sort of like Pete Grey the one-armed outfielder for the St.Louis Browns. Good enough in a leaque filled with 4-Fs.

Uh, maybe it would have helped if that great GOPer Castle would have immediately & enthusiastically endorsed O’D?
