A new poll released by Gallup shows that American distrust in the mass media has reached a record high. This is the fourth straight year that a majority of respondents have said that they have little or no trust in the media, but the 57% who say that this year is a new record for the poll.
According to the poll, 48% of respondents say the media is too liberal, 15% say it is too conservative and 33% say it is just right.
You can see how the responses have changed over the years here:
(snip to picture of chart)
Political party seemed to affect the responses, with Democrats and liberals having the most trust in the media, and Republican and conservatives having the least. Independents and moderates were, as expected, in between the two extremes.
59% of Democrats said they trusted the media, compared to 32% of Republicans. Likewise, 54% of self-described liberals had trust in the media, compared to 33% of self-described conservatives.
Lower-income Americans and those with less education were more likely to trust the media than wealthier Americans and those with higher eduction.

Yes, despite their Saudi masters. Of course, all that goes to show is that the rest of the media really IS that bad - that we have to settle for Fox if you want any clue at all from TV (vs. Internet) as to what might be going on.
Yes, despite their Saudi masters.
Let me get this straight. Some billionaire Saudi prince trying to influence American opinion has a 7% stake in Murdoch's News Corp and perhaps some influence with the Murdoch family and that makes him Fox New's 'master'? The network that Obama can't stop obsessing over? The network that saw their influential commentators (O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity, et al.) come out against the Cordoba Initiative's 'Ground Zero' mosque plan? Lets be real.
I don't much like Rupert Murdoch's business ties to a billionaire Saudi 'prince' but I do not see any real evidence of the kind of influence over Fox News that would come close to justifying calling the billionaire Saudi 'prince' a 'master' of the Fox News network.
The good news is that they still trust the media more than they do the Pelosi-Reid congress . . .
33% are gullible fools.
i.e., Democrats?
Yes they are fools, but I was referring to the 33% that think the media is the just right bowl of porridge.
Stick a fork in them
Must be echoing the talking point that all corporations are inherently capitalist.
They need to have a talk with million dollar (or billion dollar) marxists like Barack Obama, Michael Moore, Oliver Stoned, Bill Gates, George Soros, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, et al.
Ray Bradbury doesn't trust the media either but then what does HE know?
Thanks for the ping.
