I don’t hardly think their is any contention between them.

But someone wants us to believe there is.

Is that you Van Jones?

Yes I am serious, that’s why I said “aside form the obvious one hour outlet?”

Glenn is also an author and a radio host. Fox is not the only medium used by him to reach the people who listen to him.

Well, I don’t know about you, but there is one show, and one show only that I’ll watch on Fox News, and that is Goenn Beck.

Otherwise, it’s pretty much not worth watching at all, especially on the weekeneds, unless you really like Geraldo, Huckleberry, and dramatic teleprompter reading from Julie Banderas.

But we would and do listen to his radio show as well as read his books.

Let’s make it simple, If Beck leaves FNC, which one suffers greater damage to their bottom line. In the end it’s about the money, my friend and Beck will make a ton more on FNC then he will anywhere else, while FNC will easily survive his leaving should he choose to go or get canned.

That isn’t the point.

The point is that Glenn Beck is responsible for his success.

Fox News is not.

Without a venue with which the people can be reached, his would be merely another voice among billions.

Think of it this way. Somewhere out there in this world there is a man who can throw a baseball 110 mph or faster and a sinker or slider which literally drops of a table, or there is a man who can run a 2.6 40 yd dash and stop and change direction in a blink of an eye which would make him the greatest running back in the history of football, But if these folks do not find the proper audience for their great talent they will wallow for their entire lives in mediocrity never achieving their true potential.

That is correct, however, Fox News is not Beck’s only outlet.

I would venture to say that Beck would have experienced success in his life even had he not been on FOX, and I base this upon his radio show and his books.

Television is not the only medium, and it is not the most effective medium, as Mr. Limbaugh believes.

I just wanted to add to my premise by saying that there are many other hosts on FOX News who, while also successful in terms of money, do not have the same insight as Beck, they do not produce anywhere near the product that he produces.

For instance, if O’Reilly or Greta held a restoring honor event in Washington, I think that it wouldn’t be anywhere near what Beck did.

He is a unique individual. He would survive and prosper without Fox, and vice versa. However, I do believe that it is his unique point of view and insight that has caused his success, and not FOX News per se.

Ideologically untrustworthy?? Care to explain that?

Beck’s conservatism, such as it is, is late-arrived at and might be a mile wide and an inch deep. In his discourse he pays little or no homage to the giants, Buckley, Barry or Reagan. It was way beyond presumptuous to title his own book “Common Sense,” a title fully reserved to Thomas Paine by anyone truly enamored of the founders, as he says he is. And he cries a lot. As far as I know, and I’ve been around 60+ years having started out campaigning for Goldwater when I was 14, there’s no crying in conservatism.

All that said, I’m not completely dismissing him. He’s got a knack for somehow combining a libertarian streak with faith in God and making it work, and you don’t see that everyday. Plus, he persuaded Sarah Palin to attend his staggeringly successful event on the Mall and that rates high up there with me. And he’s very entertaining—when he is.

I’m not picking a fight here. I hope he stays on our side of the ledger, I do. And if I were running FNC I’d move him into the 8 pm spot and get rid of that annoying Ted Baxter guy and his blabber about “the folks.” But I do see Beck as a weak personality at heart, a man who teeters and who could end up seeking love and attention on the other side if things don’t go his way. We’ve seen others like that—David Frum, Sullivan, a guy who went to the NYTimes years ago who’s name I forget, that Huffington chick, Richard Clark...

Thanks, I truly did not understand you original comment.

There is a lot in your post that I could debate but I will just say that there is no one who is doing what he is doing as well as he is doing it. What he is doing is timely and needed imo.

PS. I know of very few true Christians who, when truly touched, don’t shed a tear or two.

One or two?

Seriously, though, Beck does a lot to attract new people to the side I’ve been on a long time and I hope he keeps doing it. I agree that he’s an original or sorts. It’s too bad he’s not on in prime time when more could see him.

>> One or two?<<

LOL I coulda shot holes in the whole dang thing! :-)

Actually, I think Beck has filled a big hole and the information he has given is something most people are seeing and hearing for the first time. An awakening that was long overdue. I have issues with his faith but can filter what he says because I am well grounded but other then that I think he is doing this country and the conservative cause a valuable service.

Sure Beck would most likely have had success, it’s a matter of degree however. The bigger the audience the bugger the success. These guys are paid by sponsors who advertise on their shows.

I tried to listen to him today. I can’t take him. He is such a wimp. It all gushy read the Bible be peaceful Kum_ByYah gobbledeegook. Does he not get it? The elites won’t give in without a fight and Beck is trying to lull us to sleep. He keeps mentioning Geo. Washington. Yes, George was a religious man but he also gave the order to fire! The minutemen didn’t fall to their knees and pray at Lexington, they socked their muskets to their shoulders and looked the redcoats in the eye. Ghandi did not roll over, he convinced his country to just not comply with the Brits and their is nothing the crown could do about it. It’s time to stop the praying, crying, kneeling etc and stand up and say OH HELL NO! and mean it. Glenn Beck is NOT the man to lead this that’s for damned sure.
