ALBANY -- Republican leaders were crowing yesterday after a series of battleground-district polls suggested Democrats could lose their one-vote majority in the state Senate in the upcoming elections.
The four Siena College surveys showed two incumbent Democrats -- Darrel Aubertine of Watertown and Brian Foley of Long Island -- were neck-and-neck in tough re-election fights.
Meanwhile, two veteran Republican senators -- Frank Padavan of Queens and Hugh Farley of Schenectady -- retained wide leads over their Democratic challengers.
Democrats have repeatedly cited those two GOP-controlled districts as their best opportunities to even out any losses they might suffer elsewhere in the state in what is expected to be a Republican election year.
Senate Minority Leader Dean Skelos (R-LI) said he was "delighted with the results" while Republican state Chairman Ed Cox predicted the GOP could gain six seats.
"In this kind of extraordinary year, I have no doubt that we will take back the Senate with a good, solid Republican majority," Cox said.
Bronx Sen. Jeff Klein, the Democrats' campaign chief, argued the anti-incumbent backlash would hurt the GOP, too.
He predicted gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo, who is popular in battleground districts, would come off the sidelines and campaign for Democratic Senate candidates...

Very true about the state Senate. I think there’s an opportunity to narrow the ‘Rat margin in the state Assembly, too.

Having just returned from NY state...literally...minutes ago, I agree with your post #4. Walking the neighborhood with my grand-babies I was shocked at the number of "All Incumbents Out" signs in yards along with flags.
If the vote fraud in the City can be curtailed they may have a chance for new blood.
