WASHINGTON, DC Last week, U.S. Senator Patty Murray was awarded the 2010 Best of Congress Award, presented by Working Mother Media and Corporate Voices for Working Families. The Best of Congress Award recognizes Congressional excellence in improving the lives of working families through advancing legislation, advocacy, and supporting family-friendly work policies.
I am proud to stand up and fight for working mothers and families in Washington state and across the country, said Senator Patty Murray. Especially in these tough economic times, we all need to keep working to put policies in place that support families and help make sure working mothers are given every opportunity to succeed.
Working Mother Magazine wrote the following about why they chose Senator Murray:
Murray is the first woman to be elected to the Senate from Washington state, and throughout her tenure she has been a champion for women and families. She has fought to close the pay gap, protect women in retirement and increase access to child care. She helped write and pass the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 and helped reauthorize it in 2000 and 2005. During this session of Congress, she sponsored legislation to provide funding for unemployment and training activities for dislocated and adult workers who need training in green-collar jobs and in industries, such as health care, that offer the promise of long-term employment...
This year, Corporate Voices and Working Mother Media selected 10 U.S. Senators and 20 U.S. Representatives from both sides of the aisle for their leadership and their commitment to improving the quality of life for working families nationwide.
How lucky ya’ll she won this just in the nick of time. I’m sure it’s just coincidence that it came when she was losing in the polls!!!
If Murray is the best in the Senate, then that is all the good reason to get rid of her and as many incumbents as possible....
Nobody in the senate is “the best”. In fact, I question how you can call any one person in that body “good”. The country is a train wreck.
Sheesh.
If I hear her say the word "fight" one more time, I swear...
they wanted to make sure she got the award while she was still in Senate imho
A clone of Boxer, with even less brains, if that’s possible.
No! They’re trying to influence an election!!!
Patty was the dumass who after 911 praised osama bin laden for winning the hearts of the Afghan people by building daycare centers
maybe they should name Patty’s award “the osama bin laden family compassion award”
Patty Murray is an imbecile. Borderline retarded. Dino Rossi ought to be running away with this election. He’s a crappy candidate. A 2 time loser running because “its his turn.” I’ll vote for him, but if we had a candidate with some fire, this election wouldn’t be close enough for the King County Democrats to steal.
Couldn’t have said it any better, thanks.
Where have all the flowers gone?......
A communist award for a communist.
LLS
LOL
It's more than obvious. Anyone who casts a vote for her because of this stunt is an idiot.
(In fact, anyone who cast a vote for her at all is an idiot, but that's another thread).
Now that ‘working mothers” & pregnant women & women who have just given birth get so many extra perks & weeks off, & some of the time off paid for, I am more than glad that I never expanded my business.
In no way can I afford as a business owner to hire someone who will not be there in a dependable manner- between having kids & then taking said kids to dentists & doctors, etc, I would end up training a person who would virtually be a part time worker. NO THANKS.
I can get that from a Temp agency.
These same women wonder why they don’t have parity with male workers.
Have a job or have kids. I cannot support both halves of your life. Period.
