I can’t help but think that Whitman is mildly culpable for suspecting that her longtime housekeeper was an illegal — and for ONLY bothering to find out for sure, and firing her, once she (Whitman) decided to run for office.
Not true. When Meg hired her she presented a drivers license as proof of citizenship (which is was then) and told the family and the hiring agency she was legal.
