That was simply a response to your stated expectation that they would not have sex but no expectation of keeping an agreement. It is not an endorsement of having sex. We come full circle to the reading comprehension thing again.
You were the one who stated that he (or anyone else) did not, and could not, have the expectation of privacy.
I clearly discredited that notion.
Projection.
The law says it, not me.
No. You didn’t.
No. You have made an accusation in Post 315. I have yet to see you back that up with facts. Otherwise, your intent is to simply insult, argue and falsely accuse.
You discredited nothing. You only argued and accused.
Nope. In 315 you called me a liar and cited my posting history. Back that up with quotes.
LOL! Don't demean yourself by using the tactics of Liberals.
I believe the law is referenced in the original article, or at least in one or more of the articles about this situation. You can easily find it for yourself, a very conservative endevor.
This was one room. Not an apartment, not a suite (AFAIK), not a two bedroom place. The understanding was apparently a spoken spur of the moment agreement.
That said, the creeps who taped the young man were creeps. Disgusting. They probably committed a crime (I don’t know the local statues of course) and if so, they should face whatever legal issues they need to face. They also did wrong morally and will face guilt and shame and should.
Another point is that hedonism is a poor basis for human civilization. If young people are taught “you are animals are are not expected to control you sex implulse, no one can” - than many will not even try. Now that young people are taught “If you have one gay thought or desire (and here, watch/read this gay porn and see if you like it), that means you are gay and cannot change - and, want to meet some guys at my place, they can show you the ropes?” - naturally many young people will experiment, and become confused about their sexual orientation.
Sex without marriage (what to speak of homosexual acts) is not without great risk; it is not benign, does not cause happy or stable personal lives; nor when accepted by society does it create stable families and society.
“If it feels good, do it” was a slogan started in the 60s. Apparently a lot of people on FR still believe in that lie.
I’ve pointed out the law. you may want to ignore the law, OK, you can.
The two students either ignored the law as you have, or were ignorant of it.
Unlike you, who can run off in denial shouting lalalalalala, they will probably end up in prison, and with a civil judgement that will trail them for decades.
...trying to justify that you think college sexcapades are fine but...
You put words in my mouth.
A law stating that a student sharing a dorm room with another student has a reasonable expectation of privacy to have sex in that room is referenced in the original article?
As I suspected, you are making it up as you go along...
Since when is it a liberal tactic to request facts to back up a ludicrous statement?
The law speaks to taping someone without their knowledge or consent. It is clearly illegal.
What's the law about expecting privacy in a shared dorm room?
Unlike you, who can run off in denial shouting lalalalalala, they will probably end up in prison,
You didn't check my posting history, did you?
Didn't read the story? If convicted they could do 5 years.
Then they didnt read the story as its states the penalty if convicted is 5 years. Then of course their reputations are deservedly shot. Whod trust them now?
Depression, anxiety, paranoia, are real mental illnesses, no? Are you a DJ or a DR since you seem to make diagnosis up? A person who has been put in a life altering situation, because of two malicious people, may have panicked. If these two idiots didn’t do such a hateful thing (hate crime another charge) this man would not have been put into this situation and be alive today. Their actions caused a reaction which holds them responsible for the result. Don’t start blaming the victim.
How many people were in the room when this incident happened?
...trying to justify that you think college sexcapades are fine but...
You put words in my mouth.
Your words: Post 296 :I am not the one expecting them to not have sex.
Tell me where that makes me a liar. And, one last time? This is the first time that you quoted it.
Why are you ignoring the elephant in the room? Two elephants, actually.
1. Sex in a dorm. Not actually a good use of a dorm room (don’t give me the argumment that “everyone does it”).
2. Homosexuals are by definition suffering from psychological disorder.
Of course the creeps who tapes him were utterly wrong, morally and legally. No one is excusing them. But the young man who committed suicide didn’t have to die, and didn’t have to engage in homosexual acts.
This does not excuse the creeps, it’s just that he plays a part in all this as well. He is not a neutral non-actor.
You use the words might or may have, which means they didn’t know the victim very well or they would have known what WAS going to happen. Emotional harm can be worse then physical harm to some, are you aware of that? Any harm inflicted on someone deserves punishment. What if this malice act committed by these two resulted in this kid not taking his life but going into the school and taking others’ lives. This type of bullying, embarrassing, “hurting feelings”, needs to stop. The only way to ensure it will not happen again is to hand down a harsh sentence.
