I wasn’t clear: I wasn’t talking solely about FB, but about the totality of info that can be gleaned about a person online. Indiscriminate FB postings only make the problem worse.

And even if your FB page is private, the stuff you post on walls of friends may be public, right? Or friends may take a photo you posted and repost it in public, right?

Seems to me there are a whole bunch of ways info can make its way out of whatever “lock down” a person puts on it.

Probably so. But personal info(address, education, interests, etc) can be kept private. I get uncomfortable myself with some of the personal info people actually post.
