Let's ask this commie if he wants to apply that $500 fee to the other items in the Bill of Rights, then.
How about a right to a speedy trial?
How about the right to a jury of your peers?
How about the right to free speech?
How about the right to peaceably assemble?
It's just as ridiculous to "tax" the right to keep and bear arms.

Counterproposal: shoot politicians & bureaucrats who want to charge people for exercising their rights.
After all, the only ones who want to disarm you as a matter of course are those who wish to impose their will upon you via force.
It can be argued that disarmament itself is an act of violence.

Ironic, actually:
NEW JERSEY STATE CONSTITUTION
Article 1
Sec 5. No person shall be denied the enjoyment of any civil or military right, nor be discriminated against in the exercise of any civil or military right, nor be segregated in the militia or in the public schools, because of religious principles, race, color, ancestry or national origin.

Just throw it back in their faces - call them racists and anti-poor, making it so that only rich people can afford to legally defend themselves. Accuse them of trying to railroad poor black families into prison.
Since that’s pretty much what they’re doing.

Well they did have that little battle that Christie could see the spot from his office in Trenton. Some rag tag group crossing the icy Delaware to give a CHristmas suprise to some hung over Hessians.

Well....I might go along with this, if the bag limit on progressives is not less than ten per year.

Damn, by the headline I thought the article was saying theyd give me $500 a year to help me exercise my 2nd Amendment rights. That might actually make economic sense. In exchange for getting your CCW, passing marksmanship test, and agreeing to carry whenever you go out in public in NJ, you get $500. Spending $60K on putting 120 more CCWs out there will probably do more to reduce crime than spending $60K to add one more cop.

That’s how I see it. If I must clean my guns, it will have to be worthwhile.

They could save considerable money if they paid their legislature $1.00 per year.

No thanks. But if they do it, have the reps who vote for it go door to door collecting it. Should solve a couple problems that way.

Next they can charge citizens to exercise their right to free speech. They could probably make a whole bundle of dough on that one...more talkers than gun owners in the nation.
