That's not so much American politics as American main stream media becoming completely political and refusing to cover the story. The story was available and we knew about it here on FR.
John McCain and his RINO staff were also completely complicit in refusing to put spotlight on Obozo and his sordid life. The MSM would have fought for Obambi anyway, but every sentient member of the voting public could & should have been made aware of ALL the worst aspects of the Obamanation and what he stands for. Instead, the campaign was conducted like a kindergarten nap time (with the pleasant exception of Sarah Palin when she was going a bit “rogue” but even she didn’t really take it to the Obamites).
