I was struck by one sentance you wrote:
“Though Rabbi Lewis is an admitted lib (who voted against Bush and is a proud, card-carrying member of the ACLU) he is first and foremost a wise person;..”
What a contradiction.
When reading the article at the link (FrontPage is one of my bookmarked favorites. It should be everone’s.)I noted the fact the Rabbi warns against the danger, yet belongs to the poltical party and a legal group dedicated to undermining the very essence of the fabric of America. He is, in effect, selling lighter fluid and matches to crazy people, then warning the mob is setting the world on fire.
One of the oddest things is how intelligent people cannot be introspective. What the heck is he thinking?
Though Rabbi Lewis is an admitted lib (who voted against Bush and is a proud, card-carrying member of the ACLU) he is first and foremost a wise person;..
What a contradiction.
How is that a contradiction?
Though misguided in his obvious Liberal philosophy, he is smart enough ("wise") in realizing the threat that Islam poses and willing to admit this which is opposite of what those of his Leftist bent normally are willing to admit or advance.
Wise: "Having the power of discerning and judging properly as to what is true or right
One can be naive, misguided, mistaken in some areas and correct in others as is the case with the Rabbi's take on history and the real threat of Radical Islam.
I guess the point I'm trying to make and what is surprising if you will, is that though an obvious Lib, the good Rabbi is first and foremost a Patriot who recognizes (and is willing to articulate) the danger Islam poses, not only to Israel and Jews, but to all of mankind.
It's unfortunate that most Libs here in the US, do not take this threat seriously because they are so steeped and blinded by Policital Correctness/Multiculturalism or more likely, dislike and distrust their own country to the point of supporting our sworn enenmy, you know the old Arab saw: "The eneny of my enemy is my friend?"
What most leftists do, namely, that you can tinker with America to "improve" it --- a measure here, an expenditure there --- without dismantling its foundation. Many people on this very forum, supposedly conservatives, do the same when it comes to economics: the anti-capitalist rage is rampant and equally unfounded.
The truth is, people who don't know how the country and the world in general work do not see the interconnections and consequences of specific actions.
