Although no final decision has been made because of family considerations, ABC News has learned that White House officials are preparing for Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to announce on Friday -- as Congress adjourns for recess -- that he is leaving his post to explore a run for mayor of Chicago.

It’s curious to me that he’s leaving so quickly. While there were a few rumors earlier this year, I don’t recall any more being said until a week or 2 ago. It seems strange to me that he’s leaving before the election, especially w 0bama’s financial team out recently. IMHO, 1) there are indictments coming in Chicago or something else embarrassing coming out; 2) he’s going to help elections and/or help rig elections behind the scenes; and/or 3) he doesn’t want to be in the WH when the big losses occur Nov 3, so he try to disassociate himself from the losses.
