On Special Report with Bret Baier, during the week before the election in November of 2008 during the panel discussion, Charles Krauthammer said something to the affect that "An Obama Administration won't be that bad". I spent the next fifteen minutes picking my jaw up off the floor. I used to be a Krauthammer fan, but he lost me right there. Those seven words speak volumes about Mr. Krauthammer and made absolutely clear to me his position and status as one of the Republican elitists. If he is so damned smart, as he and others like Rush Limbaugh constantly remind us, how could he not see the Obamanation that was barreling at the USA, given what was known about Obama and his Marxist ideological beliefs at the time?
The culture of the Beltway has an insulating effect on its longtime denizens.
He’s not so damn smart. He’s trained and has developed articulation skills. So he is able to summarize things that are occasionally relevant and intelligent.
The Beltway chattering class looks for such persons that are able to consistently articulate a point of view regardless of the validity of that POV. Then such persons develop their ‘brand’ and they become fixtures in the media.
Krauthammer is old inventory that needs to be turned over, along with Rove, Kristol and so many others. As Demint I believe said, “It’s time for new blood”.
