Krauthammer started out in politics by working in the Carter administration. He then became a speech writer for Walter Mondale. He is proabortion, antideath penalty, pro embryonic stem cell research and pro-high taxation of CO2/energy.
Some east coasters still call him conservative. Which tells you a lot about where they are on the spectrum.
I never thought of Krauthammer as a conservative, but I have always respected his thought process. (I'm one of those rare people around here who doesn't demand 100% conformity to my opinion to earn my respect).
But when Krauthammer talked about Obama's being "presidential" after those horrific, transparent debate appearances, and now that he's behaved like a liberal snob regarding the Delaware election results, he's lost the respect I did have for him.
I'd like to get it back, but this article is certainly not enough.
