She and Ina Garten are still my favorite cookbook authors, although both of them are libs. I am a self taught cook like Nigella and I was a caterer as was Ina.
Ina’s voice is so soooooothing to listen to. But I like Nigella’s accent and she is a real woman, a mother whose love for her children comes through clearly as she includes them in the food prep. THAT is the sign of a woman in full, IMHO. My second wife had a parttime catering business. I miss the kitchen time we shared since I love to cook ... it’s a hobby I can live with. Getting red potatoes in the oven as soon as I post this response in fact. Like Nigella, I find the rote work in food prep gives my mind freedom to flow on whatever writing project I’m into.
Cook books ... I paid for an entire library of them for my second wife and I’ve never read one cover to cover. I’ve threatened to write one though, for batchelors. It would be kind of a ‘Nigella Meets Three Stooges’ and ends up with three food prep princes. There is a certain class of woman who finds a male adept at food prep to be sexy don’tchaknow. The book could be half of a two book set, with the other being ‘How To Sleep With A Woman’ ... and it isn’t about sex.
