Taking a rare hard-nosed stance on immigration, Gov. Deval Patrick scolded the illegal alien aunt of his close political ally President Obama, saying she’s not “entitled” to anything but human decency.
“I heard that at one point she said she was entitled to become a citizen and I don’t think that that’s the case - with all due respect - I just don’t think that people who are here illegally are entitled to anything other than the respect you would give another living soul,” Patrick told the Herald.
In the one-on-one interview - the first of four State House Insight video sitdowns with the gubernatorial candidates - Patrick referenced Zeituni Onyango’s explosive interview with WBZ-TV this week. The Kenyan native said she demanded citizenship and said the “system,” which gave her public housing in South Boston, took advantage of her.
Patrick, who is in a statistical dead heat with GOP rival Charlie Baker according to a Boston Globe poll released yesterday, has been modifying his message on illegal immigration as the hot-button issue continues to rankle voters. Patrick supports giving in-state tuition and driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, but he hit the brakes on his efforts to implement those policies statewide.
But Patrick said he won’t use the Corner Office to address illegal immigrants’ use of taxpayer-funded services if re-elected. “I think what we need most of all is serious reform at the national level,” Patrick said.
The Democratic incumbent also indicated he hasn’t gotten a fair shake in the press. Patrick was pummeled with bad press within his first few months in office for spending cash on redecorating his office and upgrading his state car to a Cadillac.
“Does it matter?” Patrick responded with a nervous laugh when asked whether he’s been treated fairly in the media, adding later, “There’s no point in whining about it.”
He said he’s learned to “do a victory lap” and tout his accomplishments more since taking office. But when pressed on how he’s been portrayed, Patrick said, “It doesn’t matter. Look we’ve gotten a lot of great stories, we’ve gotten some not so great stories, some of which we deserved.”
He brushed off recent primary results that showed he pulled in fewer votes than Lt. Gov. Tim Murray.
“For goodness sake we didn’t have a primary challenge, so I don’t think any of those votes mean anywhere near what the votes will be on Nov. 2,” Patrick said.
While discussing the Tea Party and a growing movement away from political parties, Patrick highlighted voter cynicism as the cause. “People aren’t buying 100 percent of what either party’s selling - I don’t buy 100 percent of what my party is selling. People have good ideas from all quarters,” said Patrick.
Believe this? He also promised more cops and property tax relief. Neither came to pass. He does support drivers' licenses and in state tuition to illegals,though although this article suggests he dropped efforts due to outrage. This seems like a ploy to try and get those on the middle and the Right.

He is for in state tuition for illegals and drivers licenses...what the hell or rather how in the hell do these illegals actually get into these colleges in the first place...I thought you needed a ss card to begin with...

She should have drilled him harder on explaining the differences. He knows people are sick of supporting illegals, yet he gets on camera and talks out of both sides of his mouth.
This is your government at work. Working against the hard working taxpayer. Giving your tax money away to those who come here illegally and sponge of the system. Obviously Deval doesn’t have a problem with that. I do. Say goodbye in November

If she isn’t entitled to be a US citizen, then she is entitled to a trip back to whatever craphole she came from.
An airplane ticket back to Kenya is cheaper than paying to keep her here for life.
His internal polls must show a close election. There’s no other explanation, since Aunty is a) black, and Deval always aligns with the race card, b) the relative of a friend, and Deval is known to dispense political favors, and c) illegal, and Deval sympathizes with their causes as well (he’s for in-state tuition for illegals, among other things).

As for the “socialist twins” bit in a post made above, Baker can’t be as bad as Patrick. Either one will win; if you must, blank the race or vote for Cahill or Stein. Write in Sylvester The Cat if you wish. But again only Deval or Charlie will win. If Baker wins, I don’t think he’d be as bad as Patrick.
How about what happens when Kerry is up for re-election. A “RINO” candidate is his opposition, someone who might occasionally vote our way. Would you rather give another term to liveshot? Naah, just wait till the state is ready to accept a full conservative. Which is...when? And yeah I’m sure Coakley would have been better than Brown, eh.
The Rats are starting to panic.

Of course, Zero won’t be angry at Patrick; Zero himself would throw Aunt Zeuti under the bus if he thought he could get mileage out of it.

There are only a finite number of openings in state colleges. They are competitive right NOW.
Imagine with the choice of guaranteed federally-funded tuition money from illegal applicants (”di-VER-sity”) and the staggering payment schedules of ordinary Massachusetts tax-paying residents, which students would get the slots?
Guess I’m glad I went to Salem State College (univ. now)
when I did (1980-84). Would I get in now? I’m a citizen...
