Wagglebee, there are some who are conservative with regard to some issues and liberal as to others. I am conservative on most issues, but I see that others may agree with me on some matters and not others. I think the gay marriage issue is not supportable for at least a couple of reaons (1— marriage already has a definition, meaning a lifelong union of one man and one woman, and that definition excludes same sex unions from being called marriages and 2— gay people can marry to the same extent as heterosexuals can— neither is allowed to marry someone of the same gender— all are treated equally), but I understand that there are those who are, like me, anti-abortion, pro-death penalty, in favor of limited government, etc. but who disagree on my analysis regarding same sex marriage. If that is the only issue where we differ, I (symbolically) embrace them.

That is NEVER the only issue.

Throughout history (at least until a few years ago), regardless of any cultural or religious beliefs, marriage has ALWAYS had a common element and that is there is ONE MAN and one or more women. There has NEVER been a culture where a union with more than one man or no men is recognized as a marriage.

Anyone who is willing to sacrifice thousands of years of values to satisfy the selfishness of less than five percent of the population is willing to sacrifice anything.
