Holy cow. I hope they test that thing at least a few dozen times with weights and what not before the first person climbs into that thing. It'd be my luck that it would get stuck when would be my turn to use it.
If the system is any good, then they might lower a team to assist the miners. Then they come up last themselves.
They should put a ‘nose cone’ on it to help keep it from getting hung up on ledges. I was surprised to see the sides expanded metal instead of mostly slick sheet metal, too. Heat/dehydration could be a problem, maybe air, too in the confines of the borehole

There was a service for family members. The wife heard another woman giving her husband’s name as her loved one.
Not much in the news since that revelation.
I have been praying for a good outcome on this all along. I’m a geologist, former spelunker, and I have been in a couple of mines in my travels. I do pretty well in confined spaces, but this is extreme, to say the least. They are a hardy lot to still be sane.
