Obama dismisses GOP 'Pledge' as echo of disaster
Yahoo! ^ | 9-25-10 | Anonymous

Posted on 09/25/2010 9:46:03 PM PDT by wac3rd

Obama says he "inherited" the big federal budget deficits and that he has to "clean up the mess" left in the economy by the Republicans but this is a lie. No President of the United States can create either a budget deficit or a budget surplus. All spending bills originate in the House of Representatives and all taxes are voted into law by Congress.

Democrats controlled both houses of Congress before Barack Obama became president. The deficit he inherited was created by the Congressional Democrats, including Senator Barack Obama, who did absolutely nothing to oppose the runaway spending. He was one of the biggest of the big spenders.

The last time the federal government had a budget surplus, Bill Clinton was president, so it was called "the Clinton surplus." But Republicans controlled the House of Representatives, where all spending bills originate, for the first time in 40 years. It was also the first budget surplus in more than a quarter of a century.

The only direct power that any president has that can affect deficits and surpluses is the power to veto spending bills. President Bush did not veto enough spending bills but Senator Obama and his fellow Democrats in control of Congress were the ones who passed the spending bills.

(snip)

When President Bush said in 2004 that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac should be reined in, 76 members of the House of Representatives issued a statement to the contrary. These included Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters and Charles Rangel.

If we are going to talk about "the policies that created this mess in the first place," let's at least get the facts straight and the names right.

While these are all truths, the sheeple cannot be bothered with facts, the cool-aid (I would not defame the Kool Aid brand by associating it with #44)does not allow the truth to be heard.

I got really excited that Yahoo! would print such an accurate story -

Then I went to the link; It seems to be a different story?

With a different headline:

“Obama dismisses GOP ‘Pledge’ as echo of disaster”

After an unheard-of record deficit last year of $1.4 Trillion
the economy is on track to experience a $1.3 Trillion deficit this year.

The financial disaster is COMPLETELY traceable to the millions of bad loans THE POLITICIANS FORCED THE COMMERCIAL BANKS TO MAKE SINCE THE DAYS OF JIMMY CARTER.  Even the derivatives the Wall Street investment bankers had problems with were based on them.

"Congressman Frank and Senator Dodd wanted the government to push financial institutions to lend to people they would not lend to otherwise, because of the risk of default.
"The idea that politicians can assess risks better than people who have spent their whole careers assessing risks should have been so obviously absurd that no one would take it seriously."

Nevada voters aren’t buying Reid’s attacks on Angle...

By Holly Bailey

Sep 13, 2010 1:01 pm ET

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has spent millions on TV ads attacking GOP opponent Sharron Angle as "extreme," but Nevada voters just don't seem to be buying it.

The latest Las Vegas Review-Journal/Mason Dixon poll on the Senate race finds Reid leading Angle by just 2 points, 46 percent to 44 percent, well within the poll's margin of error, and 6 percent remain undecided — numbers that have been virtually unchanged all summer.

The latest poll has plenty of bad news for Reid, who seems to be bearing the brunt of anger among voters over the state's dismal economy...

Nevada voters just don't seem to be buying it...  Maybe they are starting to understand that it was the dems who drove the car into the ditch... and Harry and Nancy took turns driving...

23 WORDS TO CRUSH THE DEMOCRATS

Barack and democrats talk about the "Bush recession" that started in the fall of 2008, two years after Democrats took over Congress.

The average person thinks Republicans were "in charge" until Barack took office, despite the fact that budgets and spending are completely under the control of Congress.

Democrats know this and use phrases like "the Bush recession" to deflect blame from themselves for the nation’s economic problems and because Being a Democrat Means Never Telling the Truth.

The "Bush recession of 2008" started after the democrats had been controlling spending and legislative priorities for 2 - two - 2 years!

Nevada Remains State with Highest Unemployment Rate

By Annie Lowrey 8/20/10 12:45 PM

Nevada wins again. Today, the Labor Department reported that Nevada has the highest unemployment rate of any state or Washington, D.C., at 14.3 percent. That is the highest rate on record for Nevada…

Harry, you suck, big time. Nevada, take back your state, take back your self-respect, send this loser home.  Don’t worry, he’s got a fat government pension to retire on… no unemployment lines for Harry.

Oh, Harry, one more thing – you suck.

Working to destroy us so that they could ruin Bush’s legacy I think was a concerted effort. I thought it apparent at the time and also in hindsight still think it.

I’m always concerned when my candidate is “within the margins of error”. I’ve never seen a candidate pull it out. My hope is those 6% undecided will fall to the challenger. My other hope is Reid realizes he’s going to lose and stops spending so he can keep the money.

You constantly hear the party line of the last ten years and the Republicans were to blame yet I very rarely hear The actual fact layed out and countered by The Republicans. When the Reps regain power, investigations into freddy and fanny should be agressive and public!!

Nothing new here to anyone who can read and understands politics and how government works but it gets back to the simple statement of why stupid people shouldn’t vote.

I bookmark a bunch of things and at the end of the day sort them. Some are for follow ups, and some are for incorporating into long term themes.

Lately I have categorized some of those themes into the Orwellian columns of Ministry of Truth, Plenty, Love, and Peace (Minitrue, Miniluv, Miniplenty, and Minipax)

Overall the bookmarks are for my avocation of trying to start a new press service, an honest one, nationwide. I actually spend almost all my free waking moments outside of work in the quest.

The disappearing news is one of the memory holes that eerily match Orwell's vision and one of the reasons I always buy books and won't trust a Kindle or other book reader.
