The GOP will make a strategic political blunder by if they do not openly embrace the Tea Party and their candidates.
What the GOP pundits, elites and establishment better realize real quick is that the GOP needs the Tea Party more than the Tea Party needs the GOP.

Don’t hold your breath. I now consider myself an Independent Conservative. The GOP is no longer in existence as it once was. The Progressives have infiltrated both major parties, so I ill stick with the Tea Partiers. Just a little sugar and no lemon, please. Thank you.

Me too Paperdoll, I’m registered republican with support them as much as possible. I won’t be voting for Baker (R) in Mass because he picked a gay candidate as a running mate, both support same sex marriage.
Just can’t do it - will be voting (R) for the rest of the ticket.
We need the Tea Party to stay nuetral as much as possible to keep the parties clean(er).
The tea parties will BE the Republican party within the next three years. At least that is the plan!

Er, it seems to have escaped the author's attention that the only candidates the Tea Partiers have credibly "ran" are all Republicans, so I wouldn't overemphasise the "one-sidedness" of this whole matter.
Where I live, the politicians change parties so often it is fairly obvious, they are neither Republican nor Democrat, but instead just Liberal Members of the Insiders’ Club who will do whatever it takes to insure that they continue in office.
The tea party should stick to a very simple message: we can’t allow government by an Elite. Leave controversies like gay marriage and abortion alone, they’ll only divide the movement without getting resolved.
GOT Party
In our SE PA suburb, it seems that the conservative wave and Tea Party have already had a significant influence. While in official GOP gatherings, there are some expressions of concern over the Tea Party, it’s also clear that change is coming. The number of people stepping up to local involvement is one indicator. The selection of candidates for endorsement is another indicator. Endorsed candidates are more openly conservative than I’ve seen in a long time - maybe ever. I don’t expect the GOP to make a show of embracing the Tea Party. It’s more important to embrace the Constitution and let that be reflected in its actions.
