The Anglosphere, for anyone who still doesnt know, is the community of free, English-speaking nations linked, not by governmental decree, but by shared values. Which nations, exactly? Good question. The UK and Ireland, obviously, the US and Canada, Australia and New Zealand, plus whats left of the Britains extended archipelago (the Falkland Islands, Bermuda and so on).

I’ve had a long term issue with US support for Pakistan over India.
Pakistan is a ‘politically correct’ trendy cause, what with the ‘exoticness’ of the Muslim religion and how ‘cool’ the headgear is. India is filled with over a billion hard working, ambitious people who are working like fiends to improve their country and economic status. In Pakistan, they’re breeding suicide bombers. Since the entertainment industry runs our government policy, we leave India to fend for itself and we coddle the country that breeds suicide bombers who want to kill us.
The tilt towards Pakistan began with Nehru’s India going the so called Non-ALigned path...neither with Communist powers nor with the Western powers.
Since Pakistan received millions of dollars worth of military aid from the US, India then tilted to the Soviets for acquiring arms. But that relationship was never natural since one was a communist proletariat while the other was a fledgling democracy.
After decades of rule by Nehru’s Congress party, the socialist model under Nehru took a 90 degree turn with the victory by Janata party towards decentralization and encouraging free market capitalism.
India has come a long way in expanding it’s economy since capitalism was adopted as a model.
Unfortunately, Barack Obama is moving US towards the failed models of government run or controlled industries, starting with Auto’s, Banks, Health care and Education.
Do you think Bollywood jealousy has something to do with our foreign policy?
Perhaps, since Bollywood people are really actually talented in singing, dancing, and acting.
Actually, the so called "Non Aligned" group being aligned with neither the West nor the Russians, was a load of crap. They were all leftists -- and India's Nehru was a full fledged commie, and "non aligned" was simply a coded way of saying they sympathized with the Soviets without actually saying so.
Insist on the educated class in India continue to speak English and the language will survive for another hundred years even if American hegemony is in decline.
This, not Fareed Zakaria’s China-rules-the-world wet dream, is the real scenario of twenty-first century history.
Among the many reasons to admire India is that its large Muslim minority is the most pacified, most assimilated in the world.
The talk of Anglosphere is flawed. USA is the home of free-marketers and UK is the home of socialists.
I know that we have an aircraft carrier nearby but do we have boatloads of Marines ready to storm in case we need to secure their nuclear assets?
Absolutely right, but Indians these days seem to loathe Nehru for being a Marxist.
India is one of the countries most deserving of our support; Pakistan, one of the least. And of course India has far more strategic and global importance.
That’s true however the Americans, the British and the Aussies all fought together in both Afghanistan and Iraq with the Canadians playing an important role in the War in Afghanistan.
That is probably classified, but if we don’t, things are worse in the current military than I ever could’ve imagined.
My distinction is important because Indians can enter into a great relationship with the Anglosphere with the primary beneficiaries being socialists and the Indians would not even know that they are a thorn in our flesh. They would think that everything is alright with the world. I would like to see India be inspired by USA and not UK. And they need to learn to be a bit more aggressive and join us and hopefully China will be put in its place.
With the demise of the Soviet Union, that's all changed. US relations with India is proceeding apace as counter-weight to China. I think the US has a great inside track with the increasing Indian immigration to the US. Hell, second generation Indian Bobby Jindal was elected Governor in a deep South State. Nikki Halley, Sikh background will likely be elected Governor of South Carolina. Believe you me, that is covered in the Indian press.
