Turning Down The Terrorist Emeritus

Academia: In an era when our universities have become liberal re-education camps, '60s radical William Ayers has been denied professor emeritus status. For one brief instance, academia shows a spine.

It was, no pun intended, a bombshell. Ayers, a professor at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and co-founder of the anti-war group Weather Underground, was denied the honor he requested for himself after a passionate speech by board chairman Chris Kennedy, son of the late Sen. Robert Kennedy.

Kennedy said he could not confer the title "to a man whose body of work includes a book dedicated in part to the man who murdered my father." Kennedy referred to a 1974 book co-authored by Ayers, "Prairie Fire," that was dedicated to, among others, RFK assassin Sirhan Sirhan and "all political prisoners in the U.S."

Ayers' "body of work" includes Weather Underground bombings of NYPD headquarters in June 1970, the U.S. Capitol Building in March 1971 and the Pentagon in May 1972. A review of his memoir, "Fugitive Days," appeared oddly enough on Sept. 11, 2001, in the New York Times. "I don't regret setting bombs," he told reviewer Dinitia Smith. "I feel we didn't do enough." In the book, he said he found "a certain eloquence in explosives."

John Murtaugh wasn't at the UIC board meeting, but he could have told the members plenty. Murtaugh is the son of a judge whose home got bombed by the Underground on the morning of Feb. 21, 1970. Three gasoline-filled firebombs went off, two at the front door and one under the family car.

I hope political history shows that the passage of Obamacare marked the progressive high tide followed by a massive low tide.

I never miss a chance to tell democrats that they face a time of choosing as surely as republicans do. Moreso even.

This is really surprising news - welcome news that someone was able to convince the Board of Trustees not to honor a domestic terrorist. Bill Ayers is as evil as Pol Pot. If he had his way, many more innocent Americans would have been killed to satisfy his blood thirst.

“For one brief instance, academia shows a spine. “

Bulltripe and #*(^#)&$.

DESPITE this criminal’s prior treasonous and anti-American behavior, he was put on the faculty of that college and allowed to spread his contagion of hate to countless generations of students.

He was denied emeritus status SOLELY due to the UNFORGIVABLE offense of lese-majestie against the would-be aristocrats of America - the despicable Kennedy Klan.

John Murtaugh’s father - he wasn’t just killed - he was murdered.

On paper Ayers had all the right credentials, with degrees earned, books written, and classes taught, but his history and actions demonstrate that he has not achieved the wisdom, perspective, and integrity of a truly educated person.....

I wonder if Bill Ayers wants to kill Chris Kennedy? Old habits are hard to break.

And had not a “Kennedy” spoken? Let’s face it. His peers probably would have voted for him but in Liberal politics, a “Kennedy”, any “Kennedy” is a trump card.

It’s hard for liberals to learn that those they befriend on the left hate their guts too.

I’m glad to see this, but the whole episode shows yet again the loathsome liberal hypocrisies of coddling terrorists unless/until they tread upon some personal matter for said liberals.

IF Ayers had not dedicated that book long ago to the assassin of the father of the current board chairman of this university, then he would continue to enjoy all manner of benefits and perks. It is only b/c the current board chairman happens to be the son of RFK that suddenly, on this extremely limited matter, a few liberals suddenly show a “spine”??? It took no spine at all -— merely the offensiveness of one book dedication to an assassin who happened to affect their own little circle.

Ayers was employed at lucrative salary for 2+ decades to poison young minds at this institution. It is only now that they take the modest step of denying him the honorific “emeritus” status, which means almost nothing compared to all of the benefits and opportunities this TERRORIST has already enjoyed at taxpayer expense.

So Kennedy said nothing about Ayers being a killer and domestic terrorist. As for his dad being shot, that was horrible, but how about his Uncle Teddy killing a young woman?

The Kennedys don’t have the heft they used to, most of it having been buried with the Hiccup (literally and politically), so I would not be surprised to learn that Ayers’ buddy, zero, doesn’t send his thungs out to break Kennedy’s kneecaps.
