Dole for O'Donnell

An endorsement from a symbol of bygone centrist Republicanism, Bob Dole:
Christine ODonnells message resonated with the voters, and to the surprise of many she defeated Congressman Mike Castle, who many of us thought would win. The primary is over and in my opinion it is time for voters to join hands and support Christine ODonnell. The Delaware seat is important and the winner in November could well determine whether Republicans or Democrats control the Senate.
I find many of the attacks on ODonnell to be personal and lacking in balance and fairness. If her campaign wishes I am willing to assist in a limited way since I am still a patient at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. I will have surgery Monday, September 27.

Dole, an aide said, is having knee surgery, and has contributed the maximum to O'Donnell's campaign. Good show Mr Dole!

I agree! Bob Dole, unlike Juan McPain has class.
Looking at the performance of Lott, Frist and McConnell, it makes me look at Senator Dole in a better light, for sure.

Way to go Dole, shove it in the faces of the Party “insiders” that didn’t pull their weight during your campaign.

Dole is trying to make up for his donation to Charlie Crist. Did he give money to C.O.D.?

Thank you Bob Dole. A man of principle and character and upon reflection, I do not recall him ever acting entitled and superior and disdainful of any voter. Robert Dole always had a sense of fair play and decent politicking. Class will out. Castle has shown that he would rather the Republican party lose this senate seat than support the winner, Christine OD. In addition, he seems to not have any regard for the fact that it was the Republican party that gave him his political career and he should in all fairness now support the winner of the Republican primary. Still time for Castle to stop pouting and put his shoulder to the wheel and help COD win this senate seat. Some legacy he is leaving behind if he continues with this destructive write in threat.

This is a good endorsement for O’Donnell. As others have correctly pointed out, Dole was considered by many to be the classic centrist Republican when he was in the Senate. How much influence his endorsement will have in 2010 is unclear, but to the extent that it does, I only see upsides for O’Donnell.
Good on ya, Mr. Dole!
