His action, even if wrong, was reasonable under the circumstances. So... the five other bullets in the back, one of which was fired AFTER HE WAS LAYING DEAD ON THE GROUND, was REASONABLE?

Your problem isn’t that they shot him, but that they over-shot him? The shooting was either justified, or not. Number of rounds used is irrelevant in either case.
