INDIANAPOLIS - Joint Forces Headquarters, Indiana National Guard, the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, headquartered at Tyndall Armory in Indianapolis, is potentially sourced to fill a Department of the Army requirement for an advise and assist brigade mission in support of Operation New Dawn, the follow on campaign to Operation Iraqi Freedom. The tentative date for mobilization is January 2012.
The adjutant general received unofficial notification regarding the nomination of the 76th Infantry Brigade but no official alert or mobilization order has been published. The unit's specific mission would be to mobilize under its current force structure with the addition of a Strategic Training Team to augment the advise and assist mission. The 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team has been and will continue training for this potential mobilization. The unit will focus on those critical tasks necessary to insure the Soldiers and their leaders are individually and collectively postured for mission success during their deployment.
The Indiana National Guard will continue to support the citizens of Indiana during emergencies while providing military support for overseas contingency operations.
The Indiana National Guard has 15,600 soldiers and airmen currently assigned.
The 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team is one of the Indiana National Guard's major commands. The deployment of the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team will affect approximately 3,000 soldiers assigned throughout the state.

"I am proud of every soldier, airmen and family in the Indiana National Guard and grateful for the extraordinary and enduring support of their families and employers. The 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team has repeatedly demonstrated their professionalism and dedication and will do so again if called upon," Umbarger continued.
Concerning the continued U.S. military presence in Iraq, the administration’s policy is “don’t ask, don’t tell.”
Only too true.
Our “non-troops” are still there and will be there for another decade according to Iraqi MoD plans. They were never planned to be ready prior to 2020.
I don’t know about you, but I feel so much safer since “The One” closed Guantanamo and ended the war in Iraq.
