The Carter-Obama Comparisons Grow
WSJ ^ | SEPTEMBER 22, 2010 | John Fund

Walter Mondale himself sees a parallel.

Comparisons between the Obama White House and the failed presidency of Jimmy Carter are increasingly being made—and by Democrats.

Walter Mondale, Mr. Carter's vice president, told The New Yorker this week that anxious and angry voters in the late 1970s "just turned against us—same as with Obama." As the polls turned against his administration, Mr. Mondale recalled that Mr. Carter "began to lose confidence in his ability to move the public." Democrats on Capitol Hill are now saying this is happening to Mr. Obama.

Sheesh...

"Mr. Alternative Energy" Obama won't put solar panels back on the White House because it might remind people of Jimmy Carter?

What kind of an excuse is that?

It would seem the GOP are soon to have the greatest political capital a party (and hopefully President) have have in decades, maybe even ever by the time this is all over with.

If they waste it, they will pay for it, and so will America.

I pray they govern as real conservatives.

Geraldine Ferraro was dead right. And the left vilified her for speaking the truth. If 0bambi weren't black, he would still be a state senator in Illinois or a community organizer. He has no credentials and no qualifications. Period. Suddenly the left’s figuring out what the rest of us knew all along. And they're not liking what they see. “There is none so blind as he who will not see.”

Another of Mr. Obama's clear errors has been to turn over the drafting of key legislation to the Democratic Congress: "That doesn't work even when you own Congress," he said. "You have to ride 'em."

But, but, that's - too much - like WORK!

Perhaps the biggest difference is that people took a quick dislike to Obama (and Clinton), leaving Congressional Democrats to deal with an angry electorate at the mid-term elections. Public anger over Carter’s incompetence did not become universal until 1979, so the Democrats did OK in 1978. Of course, that meant that Carter had to face the first angry wave in 1980, rather than letting his fellow Democrats take the beating for him, like Clinton did and Obama is about to do.

Perhaps Obama, like Clinton, will learn from the spanking his party is about to get, but I’m not holding my breath.

I doubt whether he'll learn anything, but if Republicans win Congress he'll be able to bash and blame them for the next two years.

Democrats could pull through in November and we'll throw them all out together in 2012.

The RATs have to know that their ship is sinking fast. Wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the walls of Congress and in Zero’s office in the White House? I hope the whole lot of them need Imodium and Valium 24/7.

No Imodium and absolutely no Depends, either.

He was beaten by Norm Coleman who has since had the seat stolen from him by Stuart Smalley.Norm gave his seat away by acting like the typical ankle grabbing painty-waisted Rino that he was.

Had Norm acted even slightly Conservative, There wouldn't have been enough Felons in MN to put the Clown Franken in the Senate.
