Part of Gov. Chris Christies belt-tightening plan for New Jersey was the termination of $7.5 million in public funding for Planned Parenthood clinics in the state, a decision Democrats in the legislature countermanded with a bill that cleared the Senate with a 30-10 vote sufficient to override a veto. But when that veto came and the Democrats scheduled an override vote, Republicans in the legislature backed down, and the measure failed 23-17.

Matthew 21:28-31
But what think you? A certain man had two sons: and coming to the first, he said: Son, go work to day in my vineyard. And he answering, said: I will not. But afterwards, being moved with repentance, he went. And coming to the other, he said in like manner. And he answering said: I go, Sir. And he went not. Which of the two did the father's will? They say to him: The first. Jesus says to them: Amen I say to you that the publicans and the harlots shall go into the kingdom of God before you.
If every candidate who has ever been defined as a RINO by any Freeper is ruled out, we’ll have to dig up Calvin Coolidge’s corpse and run him a la “Weekend at Bernie’s”.
I like Christie, but I think two year governors are a bad idea for Prez of Veep...and no, that’s not an anti-Palin shot.
You have followers? Kewl
No one can be everything to everyone. Only a fool will try
I’m certainlynot arguing with wideawake (he lives there, I don’t) but I would say that Christie is a perfect example of why Republicans should never drop the social issues to get elected. The voters realized they needed a guy who could handle the fiscal meltdown so they voted on that. If he had been a weasel run as a pro-choicer it would have AT BEST made no difference in his vote count, and probably hurt him.
Call it right or wrong, it has never been American law to prosecute a woman for abortion (only the doctor was prosecuted) and it never should be.
Sorry, NJ gals, gotta put down that $400 Coach bag and save up for your next abortion now . . . ‘cause taxpayers ain’t gonna cover it!
Agreed!!!! These Planned Parenthood clinics are murder centers!
Uggh. We are finally getting rid of Charlie Crist in Florida.
Thank God. . . a leader whom others can take a lesson from. Am I really in NJ?
sooooo right.
Very brave! I really like this guy for taking a stand.
“He has said he isn’t interested in running for president.”
Didn’t Washington say about the same thing?
Wow!
Funding abortion with taxpayer funds is ridiculous given the fact that people (like the ones at Delphi/GM) have lost their pensions because of the incompetence of OBAMA and his OBAMANUTS.
Need to veto more abortion funds across the country -- especially in places like California and New York.
No wonder those states have such a problem with their budgets!
Especially Chris Christie! Finally a Republican who can think & react at the same time. I love to watch him completely annihilate & dismantle the liberal socialist media or the NJ teacher that was ranting & raving about laying off teachers when it was the teachers union that caused the problem in the first place, and then refused to go along with any cost cutting measures that would have saved teachers jobs instead.
If Chris Christie would be a rock solid conservative, it would be a pleasure & welcome relief to have an articulate Repub candidate for president, who would destroy 0b00000mbi the commie pig OR his media whores in any debates or interviews.
