You are off by a geographic mile.
NAFTA involves only trade with Mexico and Canada.
NAFTA was but the first step in sacrificing national sovereignty to the open movement of goods and natural persons needed for the NWO.
NAFTA is not a conventional trade agreement, but the architecture of a new international system. ... NAFTA is a major stepping stone to the New World Order. "With NAFTA, U.S. Finally Creates a New World Order," Henry Kissinger, Los Angeles Times, July 18, 1993)
December 8, 1993: President Clinton signs into law NAFTA, which creates a framework for further trilateral cooperation. One of the objectives of NAFTA is to "establish a framework for further trilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation to expand and enhance the benefits of this Agreement." (
NAFTA, 1993, Article 102, Section f )
"
Since NAFTA came into effect 10 years ago the world has seen dramatic change," said Manley. "The European Union has expanded to 25 members and China and India have become major economic factors. At the same time the need to build cooperative security relationships has become more critical in the aftermath of 9/11. North America cannot but move forward and this initiative of the Council on Foreign Relations provides an important forum to develop a roadmap for the future of the North American community."

The problems began when the FTA between the US and Canada became NAFTA. The US and Canada have similar societal structures, wage rates, culture, etc. Mexico is the third world. They don’t fit. They will never fit.

I agree with you insofar as the US should not rely on any foreign source for the sustainment of our defenses, to the extent possible. I’ve often thought that one way to develop nuclear power would be to insist that our military facilities have their own generating stations. Put the navy in charge and have a standard type of small nuclear plant power every US Base from Fort Bragg to Pearl Harbor. Ditto on the requirement for US manufactured weapons and weapon systems.

.....insist that our military facilities have their own generating stations.....
That would be green project I could support.

China seeks to control international trade. There is no free trade with them.
