House Republicans just released a draft of their legislative agenda for the next Congress, a 21-page "Pledge to America" that they will formally unveil Thursday morning at a Virginia hardware store.
"The need for urgent action to repair our economy and reclaim our government for the people cannot be overstated," the introduction says.
It continues: "With this document, we pledge to dedicate ourselves to the task of reconnecting our highest aspirations to the permanent truths of our founding by keeping faith with the values our nation was founded on, the principles we stand for, and the priorities of our people. This is our Pledge to America."

Eh, forget the contract and the pledges. How about just follow what it says in the freaking Constitution.
We have all the direction we need in our original founding documents.

Well, what do you expect?
"Stuff" drafted by low-wage or volunteer interns just fresh out of Princeton or USC who have yet learned how to write correct English.
But, having said that, God Bless them anyway.

Adhere To The Constitution: For too long, Congress has ignored the proper limits imposed by the Constitution on the federal government. Further, it has too often drafted unclear and muddled laws, leaving to an unelected judiciary the power to interpret what the law means and by what authority the law stands. This lack of respect for the clear Constitutional limits and authorities has allowed Congress to create ineffective and costly programs that add to the massive deficit year after year. We will require each bill moving through Congress to include a clause citing the specific constitutional authority upon which the bill is justified. Can you say "Interstate Commerce Clause"? I knew you could.

Let’s hope it is symbolically in a Virginia county or township where they have drawn the line against ILLEGALS.

Eh, forget the contract and the pledges. How about just follow what it says in the freaking Constitution. The various Tea Party groups and the umbrella TP Express ought to hold counter declarations, holding up the Constitution as their pledge.
And with the additional pledge of repealing that !@#$damned 17th amendment.
To: GOPinCa; All
My first thought? Is this declaration even relevant with the Tea Parties, rallies, get togethers, etc.? It’s nothing more than a political half-measure intended to placate the masses.

Yea, but have they told Lisa Murkowski to sit down, shut up, and go the Hell away?
Color me cautiously optimistic. We are after all, talking about the GOP establishment here.
They’re gonna have to *earn* it!

How about: Eliminate two laws for every new one writtenI've always been in favor of a "sunset" provision on every law, especially here in CA, that would require a re-vote every 10 years to keep the law on the books.
