We "absorbed" 9/11 because it was a conventional attack. What happens if a nuclear attack leaves Los Angeles, New York, or DC, a radioactive wasteland for 50 years? How will we "absorb" that?

What happens if a nuclear attack leaves Los Angeles, New York, or DC, a radioactive wasteland for 50 years? How will we "absorb" that?

Lets see. Blow Los Angeles off the map. Well there haven't been any good movies out of Hollywood for the last couple of years so no loss there. It would kill 14.7 million Democrats. Obama's margin of victory in the 2008 election was only 9.5 million votes so perhaps he should worry. Oh wait, dead democrats still vote. So that must be why he thinks we can absorb it.
