Did I get the psychology at least approximately correct? Hardly, I bought my first bike, a 2008 Harley-Davidson Softail Nightrain as a gift to myself 3-years ago. I had just returned from a deployment and I thought I earned it. To say my wife was pissed would be the ultimate understatement, but like the level headed woman I knew here to be, she quickly got over it. Youre right about one thing, it was expensive as hell, but hey its my money and its worth every damn penny I gave the bank.
When I fly into BWI next week (Im leaving Bagram Afghanistan this coming Tuesday) and Ill be looking forward to riding with all my sociopathic gang buddies that you assume bikers are all part of. 21-years in the uniform of the US military and I’d wager Ive left a bigger mark than you my friend.
‘Upcountry’ roads are real nice this time of year...enjoy!
Thank you for your service. Rolling Thunder has paid y’alls dues. Poot by my neighborhood anytime you want.
“Id wager Ive left a bigger mark than you my friend.”
You are free to think so. How quickly you went from “everyone is a wimp but me on my Harley” to practically posting your resume. Seems like “loud pipes” applies to more than motorcycles.
Like many folks in the BWI area, your Harley quickly loses it’s allure stuck in DC traffic on a summer day.
Since you brought it up, thanks for your service, and you’re welcome for mine. I hope you find success in the civilian world - but don’t ride your Harley to the interview....
