It’s southern for “probably”. Kind of like “supposeably”. LOL
Good point! I imagine Jimmah is broke like the rest of us. All this “hope and change” has been really hard on the wallet.
...to me, the issue is not Carter....but IMHO the very real possibility of the country breaking apart again.
That tight !
Civil War came and General Lee was leading the Souf'. He was from Alexandria right across the Potomac from DC and had an estate in what is now called Arlington VA.
Pretty local guy.
In the War of 1812, 48 years earlier, a bunch of the locals in Fairfax and DC got burned out by the Brits. These folks knew the same Lee family. They were the cousins. They loaded up their stuff to the degree they could and went up the Potomac and around to Cumberland and overland to other rivers, and on down to Louisville, and then into Southern Indiana and Ohio.
Those are Lee's cousins out to a couple of generations.
Their kids and grandkids came back under Ulysses S. Grant and burned out the cities of the Southland.
Are we there yet?
I don't think so, but you do have churches splitting. If they were just the Baptists that'd be normal, but the Anglicans and Lutherans are definitely off their feed and that ought to make us all worry.
Of course we’re more polarized now than during the Civil War — we are more multi-cultural and ethnically diverse.
I live in North Carolina and have never heard, "prolly." I guess some people's spelling is substandard, or they are too lazy to spell out the word.
.
"u r prolly rite"
Well Geee JImmuh wonder who caused that.
“I don’t think so, but you do have churches splitting. If they were just the Baptists that’d be normal, but the Anglicans and Lutherans are definitely off their feed and that ought to make us all worry.”
...I agree...and have you noticed that the church acrimony is getting more strident?....plus break away churches are taking their property with them.
“more polarized than it was during the time of Abraham Lincoln and the initiation of the war between the states.
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt. Wrong. That you for playing peanut boy.
Try “War of Northern Aggression”.
As I recall, although I was not alive at the time, it was the election of Abraham Lincoln to POTUS that ignited the Civil War. It is only when people believe that they have no other viable means to address their ills that they will rise up and revolt. All wars are essentially over economics, and when people see their economic opportunities destroyed by an oppressive government, they will revolt. This is the reason that people are stirred up today. With nearly 20 percent real unemployment and under employment in the country, higher taxes, higher deficits, increased regulations, underdevelopment of natural resources, and government corruption, the country is ripe for a civil war of survival.
“Of course were more polarized now than during the Civil War we are more multi-cultural and ethnically diverse.”
...yep....and multicultural/multiethnic empires often come apart with violence.
What if Jimmah backed the Shah, who was a friend of the USA, instead of baling on him?
when did they let the lunatics out of the asylum
No Sh!t Jimma!
Thank your party for spreading the hate!
And Jimmy Carter has a lot to do with that polarization. What a putz.
Meanwhile our troops are still caught up in life and death situations.
u r the only one who has never heard prolly in NC, lucky u
He may be mostly correct on that one.
No prolly about it. Jimmah is a senile old fart. Sadly I can remember when he was our Governor.
I have lived in the South a great portion of my life and I can assure you that that is a common pronunciation of “probably.” As a few of my speech teachers pointed out, sometimes Southern speech results from laziness in articulation. This is an example.
