I read that part and it is clear. The guy was too uptight to commit suicide until he was drugged to calm him down and clear his mind. And then the therapist couldn't figure a way to put the guy's best friend in contact without "violating patient confidentiality". The author damns her pretty well. Maybe the therapist will commit suicide.
Also read enough to know these people are/were pointless.

You make a good point. I have often wondered about this myself. To some extent I think therapy is very negative as instead of moving on, you are forced to keep looking at the past and analyzing it in order to understand why you are the way you are. I am not so sure this is good. The Bible is clear about not looking back.
