ALSO, only HALF of Hispaniola is Hispanic. - the Dominican Republic. The OTHER half is Haiti which is Creole and French speaking, not Hispanic.

Always amazes me that on that relatively little island the difference ‘tween the two cultures is so great that the DR side is a shortstop factory, yet the Haitian side has never produced a major leaguer.
