Personally I dont get the whole DADT thing. If they want the sign up I see no reason why they shouldn’t be able to.

We should be glad when anybody signs up for the military.

Look at WW2. I’m sure there were plenty of gay guys. 60,000+ stormed Omaha and Utah Beaches. The math will tell you at least a few hundred were gay.

Now, I can understand not wanting to change things in the middle of a shooting war. Or certain rules if youre in a unit in heavy combat or a special forces unit with close contact.

But, in general and at the right time I don’t see why the rules can’t be changed. Or at least experimented with. If they repeal DADT and all the bad things predicted happen, we can always reinstate it. At least give it a chance, see what happens.

No doubt, but they kept it to themselves, and didn't make an issue of it. It's a different world today, they are 'out and proud' now, and if you let open homosexuals in the military, they will do as they have done in the Catholic Church and create pockets of support where they look out for each other, and you'll never be able to root them out. They are like termites once they get positions of power in any organization.

It’s about more than gays serving in the military. I think it’s a given that they always have and always will.

What we’re dealing with are militant gays who don’t want to just be left alone to serve but wish to crush those they serve beside who do not embrace and endorse their lifestyle. If you do not do so, YOUR CAREER IS OVER.

I hope this article will give you some insight into what’s going on here:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/sep/16/new-gay-army/

Next week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is expected to begin floor debate on a defense authorization bill that would repeal the Clinton-era “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and allow homosexuals to serve openly in the armed forces. Last month, a top military official offered a glimpse of how the military might look should the new policy take effect: Those serving who oppose the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) agenda are no longer welcome.

Those were the views of Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, the Army’s deputy chief of staff in charge of personnel matters who spoke about “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” before several hundred troops at the European Command headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. “Unfortunately, we have a minority of service members who are still racists and bigoted and you will never be able to get rid of all of them,” Lt. Gen. Bostick said. “But these people opposing this new policy will need to get with the program, and if they can’t, they need to get out. No matter how much training and education of those in opposition, you’re always going to have those that oppose this on moral and religious grounds just like you still have racists today.”
