Let me make sure I understand this.

The people of Massachusetts elect a Republican to “Ted Kennedy’s Seat”, there is a peak of voter rejection nationwide towards the Democratic party, and the GOP machine in Massachusetts - FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY - does not even run a candidate in the AG spot?

We don’t have GOP abscesses in the likes of Rove and Murkowski and Crist. We have gangrene.

Mass GOP isn’t exactly on the ball all that often, but Jim is on the ballot running against Coakley in November, he needed 10,000 write in votes in the primaries, he got over 20,000.

Now he needs money, so I’m just trying to help how ever I can.

Granted, there is no excuse for the state GOP to leave this seat uncontested. When I went to vote last Tuesday, there were also a lot of local seats with no candidate whatsoever to face the Democrats in November so I went to the voting booth well-prepared with candidates to write in, Jim McKenna first and foremost among them.

It's a sad statement for the GOP here in Massachusetts but at least we have good citizens like Jim McKenna who are willing to step up to the plate and go through the ordeal of a write-in campaign so we at least have a choice in November.

Now does McKenna have a legitimate chance to win this seat? Absolutely. Scott Brown caught Martha Coakley flat-footed this past January with his renegade campaign. She actually had to be pulled from her vacation when the latest polls had Brown pulling even with her (she was 30 points ahead just a few weeks prior and didn't pay Brown any attention whatsoever).

Well Coakley has been caught flat-footed once again. Not thinking she would even have an opponent, she is going to have to pull together a campaign in a hurry. But this time around, she's damaged goods in the eyes of many Democrats. After all, she's the one that lost the "Kennedy seat" and she is seen by Independents (over 50% of the electorate here) as part of the hackerama that has caused all the problems in this state. So they will love having somebody else to pull the level for and McKenna seems like a very decent guy.
