House Democrats Pass Bill to Grill School Children about Sexual Preference
Human Events ^ | Monday, September 20, 2010 | Connie Hair

At the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee hearing last Thursday, Democrats passed a bill to require federal health officials to question anyone seeking services from Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) community health centers or other programs about their sexual orientation and “gender identity.”

Introduced by Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), H.R. 6109 requires HHS to obtain, retain and analyze sexual identity information from patients who seek healthcare, including children.

“This bill is about collecting data, no more, no less,” Baldwin said.

According to Baldwin, the current “lack of cultural competency” among federal officials means that “we are left with gaping holes in our knowledge on LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered) policy” resulting in “significant health disparities.”

Baldwin is the first openly-declared lesbian elected to Congress.

The new bill’s requirements would apply to all HHS health service programs, requiring the health service employees to ask everyone receiving services their sexual orientation and gender identity -- including those that focus on children at school-based health centers. Children who seek help at government-funded school health clinics would be asked whether or not they are gay, lesbian, bisexual or if they know their gender identity.

It would give parents much more control.

So you didn't see it.

I'll do what everyone else can and will do. Use my vote, my pen and be heard.

That I also went on about my take on parental control being a huge issue was no reason for the hot headed responses that followed

Tell me how does homeschooling in itself insure it won't be passed. I failed to read how you or the few bantering about with you have posted such.

Double standards are tricky, aren't they?

I don't know you, but I would have guessed being conservative and on this site such foolish editing and games would be beneath you.

I was wrong.

Hint, next time you play the editor & smear game, remember to leave off the comma.

Well, DJ MacWoW, she’s attacking your grammar, which is a real hoot considering some of her posts.

However, that’s an admission of loss if I ever saw one. Those getting pounded always resort to attacking grammar or spelling.

No, I didn’t see it. I checked your posting history and went over the posts in this thread and haven’t seen you condemn the measure.

to force kids to think about things they would not otherwise think about.

This is it: sexualizing our children.

Fox News was playing a segment about six-year-old girls being taught a cheer that had the word "booty" in it. When they showed the little girls doing cheers, however, you could see that they also had rudimentary boobs, sewn into the dress for a grown-up look.

Sexuality is strong in us for a reason. They are grabbing that strength and turning it to their own ends--to break up the family.

In the Laura Ingalls Wilder books she describes the schools at that time. They had a school board, which was local people, they hired a school teacher, local families put up the teacher with board and room, and built a school house.

Maybe now it can’t be quite that simple, but the infernal rules and regulations and insane insurance requirements, need to be abolished. Getting rid of the diabolical Fedgov interference and control is a great first step. Has to be local control. If local neighborhoods don’t care if teachers haven’t been to teacher training universities, so what. I taught a lot of kids and I never graduated from high school!

Just kidding, I did. Post 100, using time wisely I see.... A bad call by a brain dead lesbian who wants people running scared or rolling over and giving in.

It’s a stupid post since I also posted a link to her post. What would be the point of creative editing with the link to her post AND the thread with it? Anyone can see it by checking her posting history! Absolute nonsense.

No I'm not. Try again. Sheesh!

What he posted is an edit of what I said. I clearly pointed out that is dishonest and usually considered bad form in a discussion.

I posted ....Republicans come off as weak kneed once again imo. Fear of the school sysytem using such garbage is sickening, but it should be fought on every level....and he didn't like it.

No doubt the system needs to be improved. Unions need to be done away with, tenure disappear, vouchers, heck earth day would go away if I had my way and so on.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The above does NOT in any manner address the following:

How would what you have stated above “fix” in any way what is listed below???? Huh?

Socialist-funded
Godless
Compulsory
Government owned and run
Government price-fixed monopoly cartel

The above **is** government schooling! It defines government schooling. How can you or anyone else “fix” this? Please please explain.

If it were “fixed” it would be non-socialistic, non-compulsory, not government owned and run, not a price-fixed monopoly cartel, and it would be God-centered. In other words it would be a PRIVATE school!!!!

Please resolve this for us, please.

Also...There is the question of First Amendment Rights (federal and state). The very instant that a child enters a compulsory attendance government school, the government restricts his speech, press, association, and free exercise of his religion. Because it is compulsory the government is also trampling his liberty and his ability to freely live his life and pursue his happiness. Yet, if a school allows free speech, free press, free association, and free expression of religion, and liberty, chaos reigns and the school is neither safe or effective.

How would you “fix” this conundrum. Huh?

See folks? This is why all that “let’s only focus on fiscal issues” nonsense is just that - NONSENSE.

Except that a fiscal conservative wouldn't be funding this governmental organization in the first place. So there couldn't even be any taskings like this, for there wouldn't *BE* anyone to carry it out.

Social conservative agenda accomplished via fiscal conservativism.

We are NOT afraid of the school system.

If it makes you feel better than others to keep repeating that mantra, there’s no stopping you.

But it is wrong and will not go unchallenged.

If we were afraid of the school system, we wouldn’t have defied it and homeschooled.

So, granted you’re not a teacher or employed by the system.

Which family member(s) then?

If you consider that a condemnation of this proposed measure, it's no wonder people like you aren't fixing the public school system.

I have taken issue with your condemnation of unchristian immoral and unethical anyone who teaches.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Well...I call the people who teach children to be comfortable with the following **are** EVIL! What would you call them?

Below **is** government schooling! It defines government schooling.

Socialist-funded
Godless
Compulsory
Government owned and run
Government price-fixed monopoly cartel

And...All government schools trash First Amendment Rights ( state and federal) and trash life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, as well, since they are compulsory in cases where private schools do not exist ( due to government price-fixing) and homeschooling is not possible.

In the small Christian schools, teachers have several grades in one room. The older kids help the younger ones which keeps the older ones sharp. And most Christian schools place high academically.

Anyway I think bringing back neighborhood schools is key. And they need to quit with the big rural consolidated school districts. My township voted down the $89 million budget. TWICE. We said enough is enough!

You aren’t doing anything to *fix* the system with your solutions.

Doing something to fix the system requires action and hard work like running for school board and getting on it, contacting your representatives and making your voice heard, proposing legislation and working to get it passed.

Your do nothing approach of *empowering the children* (liberal speak if I ever heard it) is useless and meaningless. Having a child walk out of classroom will accomplish nothing. It will fix nothing. It’s merely damage control.

We can see that even if you can’t.

Delude yourself if you think that’s really accomplishing something, just like you’re deluding yourself into thinking that you can send your child to public schools for 12 years and undo the damage done there.

In this case the fear is the schools will, I feel the legislation should be stopped at all levels. Why must you all keep making is personal somehow?

If we were afraid of the school system, we wouldn’t have defied it and homeschooled.

OK, not on topic but you seem to like the battle. I simply addressed those of us who use the system. You belittled us not the other way around.

So, granted you’re not a teacher or employed by the system. Which family member(s) then?

Sigh.

Best of luck to you and your kids. Knowing it all should be an advantage

Well?...How does a person fix government schools when by definition the **are**: socialist-funded, godless, compulsory, government owned and run, and a price-fixed monopoly cartel?

I suppose what's needed it to elect representatives that support non-socialist, God-centered, non-compulsory, non-government owned and run, and not a price-fixed cartel. That, by definition, is a **private** school!

What's needed are elected representatives who will start the process of completely privatizing education. And,..Yes!...That is hard work.
