At the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee hearing last Thursday, Democrats passed a bill to require federal health officials to question anyone seeking services from Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) community health centers or other programs about their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Introduced by Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), H.R. 6109 requires HHS to obtain, retain and analyze sexual identity information from patients who seek healthcare, including children.
This bill is about collecting data, no more, no less, Baldwin said.
According to Baldwin, the current lack of cultural competency among federal officials means that we are left with gaping holes in our knowledge on LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered) policy resulting in significant health disparities.
Baldwin is the first openly-declared lesbian elected to Congress.
The new bills requirements would apply to all HHS health service programs, requiring the health service employees to ask everyone receiving services their sexual orientation and gender identity -- including those that focus on children at school-based health centers. Children who seek help at government-funded school health clinics would be asked whether or not they are gay, lesbian, bisexual or if they know their gender identity.

Meantime here's your post from the other thread.
This is certainly an improvement. But...Even if government school districts were the size of a suburban subdivision or the size of a city block they still have all the problems of government schooling.
It would still be socialist-funded, compulsory, government owned and run, a price-fixed monopoly cartel, and godless.
Also...Government schools ( even if the districts with the size of a city block) are in complete conflict with First Amendment Rights ( both federal and state). Once in a compulsory attendance godless government school the child's speech, press, association, and free practice of religion would be strictly curtailed by the government.
If a school asked my kid this I would punch the questioner in the nose.
I'm not so sure of that. Neighborhood schools run by the "neighborhood" would reflect their values and not DC's or the states. There wouldn't be all that outside interference.
What part of it should be fought on every level don't you understand?
Thanks. I’ll check it out.
In-freaking-credible.
You have not offered any explanation for how to reform the following:
Socialist-funded
Godless
Compulsory
Government owned and run
Government price-fixed monopoly cartel
The above **is** government schooling! It defines government schooling. How can you or anyone else “fix” this? Please please explain.
If it were “fixed” it would be non-socialistic, non-compulsory, not government owned and run, not a price-fixed monopoly cartel, and it would be God-centered. In other words it would be a PRIVATE school!!!!
Please resolve this for us, please.
Also...There is the question of First Amendment Rights (federal and state). The very instant that a child enters a compulsory attendance government school, the government restricts his speech, press, association, and free exercise of his religion. Because it is compulsory the government is also trampling his liberty and his ability to freely live his life and pursue his happiness. Yet, if a school allows free speech, free press, free association, and free expression of religion, and liberty, chaos reigns and the school is neither safe or effective.
How would you “fix” this conundrum. Huh?
There is only one solution: Move toward a completely private system of K-12 education ( and I would extend this to government universities and colleges, as well!)
Republicans come off as weak kneed once again imo. Fear of the school sysytem using such garbage is sickening, but it should be fought on every level.
So you are all for it's use in job applications, marriage counceling, sports medicine and so on? Just keep it out of the grade schools? Gotcha
I’m sorry. I thought you saw it.
Come on, make up your mind.
I think neighborhood controlled schools would be fine. I detailed my ideas about this on another thread.
Neighborhood parents and families could hire their own teachers, charge a nominal fee for attendence, use existing buildings such as church school rooms or other facilities, and decide their own cirricula and books. I don’t see any problem with that. No big government involved.
Small is beautiful!
I would agree if these neighborhood schools were completely voluntary in attendance and in funding.
By the way...I could see where HOAs could require funding of an HOA neighborhood school. The prospective buyer would be completely free to either buy into the neighborhood ( with its regulation to fund a school) or not.
You’re trying to fix the system from within.
What are YOU really accomplishing?
What progress have people with your mentality made in the last several decades?
Public school defenders make the exact same claim as you and I’ve yet to see ONE discernible difference the sacrifice of your child’s childhood has made against the system. It’s only gone from bad to worse.
If that’s what we can expect from all the efforts of people like you to fix the system from within, you can have it. Let us know when you make some REAL progress.
I don’t like compulsory at all.
Neighborhood schools arranged by local citizens and families doesn’t sound like government to me.
Funding could be a small fee from each child or family. No gov funding. Just think how that could lower property taxes (which I am entirely opposed to anyway).
I didn’t say you’re defending the law.
I said I’ve failed to see you CONDEMN it and tell us what you’re doing to ensure that it doesn’t become law instead of doing damage control after letting it pass.
No problem!
I just put a link on that thread to over here since the discussion here is pretty - lively.
No doubt the system needs to be improved. Unions need to be done away with, tenure disappear, vouchers, heck earth day would go away if I had my way and so on

I don't disagree with you here either. I have taken issue with your condemnation of unchristian immoral and unethical anyone who teaches.
Your statement Fear of the school sysytem using such garbage is sickening, says a great deal about you.
For one it says that you have no idea what really IS happening in schools. Based on your faith in public indoctrination facilities, I don't care what your opinion is. You haven't enough information to give an informed one.
We on the far far right have a different opinion.
Have a nice day!
